Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
If the reports are true, I for one am glad that the Wizards are putting everything on the table. Trading their veterans for draft capital is the way to go. I do think that these vets could bring value, and if the reports are true, so do the wizards front office. They are worth more than a bag of chips!
The development of the young players need to happen with as few veterans on the team as possible. We are going to suck this next season, thats a given. Why compound the growth that will happen for the young players by having to deal with play time for the vets. Get what you can for these vets now. There is a case to be made that these vets have reach peak value for the Wizards, so get that value while its possible.
I, for one, am crossing my fingers for draft day trades or trades later in the off-season, which will move these vets. I do think all of the vets will be gone by trade deadline next season.
Time will tell...

It will interesting to see what they can get in terms of FRP(s). Let's not wait until the next trade deadline as we did for Kuzma. At least, Poole had a pretty good season on offense and can help a playoff team as another shooter/scorer/distributor (4.5apg on a bad team).

Some sort of trade with Philadelphia could make sense if Philadelphia thinks Embiid will get healthy.
For instance, George and the #3 for Poole, Bey and Holmes??
Tough to give up the #3, but George is on the books for 4 years @ $50MM per year, he's 35 and always injured.
The Wiz could throw in the #18 as sweetener.
Then the Wiz could draft Edgecombe.
I certainly wouldn't give up #6 for $200 million of George.

Why Edgecomb over Bailey IYO?

Looks like Charlotte wants Ace at 4 if he's available and then could trade Miles Bridges.

My guess is that they are trying to see what the best offer out there and if not, keep it and draft somebody else.

Trading Poole makes sense, but only if it's for a positive return. I don't think he is worth a ton, but if he is being treated as negative value, then I'd much rather keep him. I'm actually growing to like the way he fits on the roster.
Poole to Orlando or Houston makes sense in that both teams are in dire need of perimeter scoring. Poole to Detroit also makes sense since Detroit's current shooting guards: Beasley and Hardaway Jr. are both unrestricted free agents.
I'd be looking for a mid FRP in return. Preferably not this season.

I like iterations of a Philly deal where we get Paul George and the #3 and flip Paul George for Beal. It makes even more sense if Poole is the outgoing salary (rather than Middleton) since Poole's contract lasts as long as Beal's.

Yes. This makes the most sense for San Antonio. It's annoying to see the discussions on the Trade Board about it though. San Antonio fans act like Harper should be worth a king's ransom - as if he is a sure bet to be superstar. Guys were saying he would have gone first in any of the last 5 drafts save the Wemby draft. I disagree. I think Cade and Paulo go above him. I would have had Mobley above him too.
I'd trade #6 + #18 + Carrington for him. Unfortunately, they would really want Bilal and I don't know if I could do it. If I included Bilal, it would be just #6 + Bilal, with nothing else. And even then, I'm not so sure.

I'm not giving 6 & 18 for him! Let alone add Carrington -- why?
For that matter, I don't think I'd give 6 & Carrington for 2.
Might Harper turn out to be tremendous? All NBA? Sure! But, so might Maluach!
For that matter, if SA is floating this rumor, then they have a target -- someone they like A LOT. About as much as they like Harper. Who do you think that is?
Bailey & Maluach are the only guys that come to mind.
I might be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. But, in principle, this is not a direction that appeals to me. It would have been great for the ping pong balls to have delivered Harper to us.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
I think the noise around San Antonio and Harper is a possible trade. In a nutshell, if SA is looking for a specific player then they would draft whomever is their trade partner. If they can Giannis - Milwaukee would dictate the terms. If they get Durant (a really bad idea, IMO) then Phoenix would dictate the terms (of the pick that is).
I'll go on the record as: I would trade 6 + 18 for Harper (ducks). Why? I think he has an order of magnitude better chance at being a #1 option than anyone we select at #6 or #18.
Would SA do that trade - I doubt it, they also have the 14th pick. So, they can have their cake and eat it too. In this crazy draft, it could very well be the player they are targeting (on top of Harper) will be there.
One other thought, it could be that they want Bailey. Well then, that takes us out of the conversation, no?

I think you have to throw the kitchen sink at SA for #2. Philly won’t consider a trade down with Harper on the board.
If we trade Poole and/or Kispert to Orlando for some combination of Anthony/KCP/16/25, could we package 18&25 to move to 10-12ish? Would it have to be 16+18 to move up into that range?
Does SA take 6+10ish for 2? I would still do that in a heartbeat. Harper is a player you overpay for.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVII
What are the chances we could leverage the pick swaps with Phoenix in a Durant to San Antonio trade? Any chance we could come out of that trade with Harper? Something like #2 to us, pick swaps with Phoenix back to Phoenix, and Durant to San Antonio.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

6+18+Carrington for Harper is just nuts, IMO.
Johnson at #6 could be better than Harper.
Maluach at #6 could turn Sarr into a great PF.
I think Clifford at 18 could be an All-Star
I think Sorber at #18 could be an Al Horford.
Revisit this if Harper turns into a superstar.
This idea dumps Bub. I bet it would guarantee Carrington leads SA to championships.
Bye bye Beal.

6,18,and carrington for Harper is not nuts. That’s a no brainer for the Wiz.

I can not wait for this draft to be over.
The irony is that we are arguing over the selection(s) of a bottom-feeding team

I wrote something like this on the trade board and the response was the Wiz whole team, picks included, wasn't worth #2. Got me hoping the Spurs drafting Dylan Bowie at 2.
Spurs wouldn't want 6/18/Bub, but maybe we get involved in something for Durant or even Devin Booker to the Spurs. I'm pinning all my hopes on Dawkins working some magic to overcome Silver's dark arts. Straight evil what that man did to us.

Poole, kispert, bey and #40 for PG and #3. Eat that money tak Kon at 3, Queen at 6 and take the best PF you can find at 18 .

Why would Philly want Poole? They have already 3 guards but they lack forwards.

Philly’s GM would get flogged on the streets if they made that trade.
