Most of all we need solid defenders. Haywood is our only big who can defend and Blatche when he feels like it.

This is lame. We didn't get better.

Who was supposed to help us next year? Kosta freakin Koufos? C'mon, we all know what we need but it wasn't there. A trade down for Batum would have been nice, but this is still a good selection. A gamble for sure though

If EG wanted to take a risk, Ruz, this French kid Ajinca would have been a better pick because he's got a good personality and is very coachable.

McGee's out of Flint and with a bad attitude to boot. Geez.

Is there any way in the world that kid doesn't go to Michigan State, Michigan, or Ohio State if he didn't suck on the court and in the locker room?

His measurables and his bloodlines are good, McGee's , but his pops doesn't stand out as a positive and his game makes me think he's at best a shotblocker like Steven Hunter.

Even that is a stretch.

Why get a young kid like him when you have Pecherov and Blatche????????

Leave Chalmers and Hendrix on the board and end up picking a scrub.

Washington's looking like a lottery team if they don't get some DEFENSE!!!!!

In all seriousness, most of you are just riding the flow of negativity and don't what the **** you're talking about. Christ, you people make it sound like he was the worst pick in the draft.

True dat. Questionable motor, attitude, desire. Weak competition. This just screams bust to me.

The worst part....he's an absoutely HORRIFIC defender. At least he can learn from a veteran like Antawn Jamison on the defensive end.

I'd rather have Arthur, Koufos, Jordan, Ajinca...any other big than McGee.

Ruzious, this guy blows. He will suck in the D-League.

This is easily the worst selection of the night for any team. Jason Thompson's way better.

Sene had no basketball skills whatsoever. He was just a tall athlete. McGee can at least shoot the ball (33% 3-point shooter) and handle a bit. His man defense may be awful, but 4.0 blocks per 40 (with only 3.5 PF's per 40) indicates that he at least has some ability to play help defense. Let him bulk up a bit and teach him to play man defense, and who knows?

It's pretty hard to get an impact player where you guys picked at.

If I were you all I'd focus my energies on trades and on FA signings the team can make...not draft picks that probably won't mean much in two seasons.

Now, it's up to the coaches to work on the mental parts.

Good gutsy pick.

I bet he would have taken Speights if he was there.

Shouldn't you be writing the newsletter for the Nick Fazekas fan club? :P

I'm not going to criticise EG for taking a guy with the best potential. And he does have the best potential, imo.

I love your beauty pics, you're a classy guy and all, but I do know what I'm talking about when it comes to the draft and have years and years to prove my point.

This IS the worst pick of the draft, JWiz. McGee will not pan out.

The Wizards drafted tall. They drafted arms.

Jeez, grab Patrick O'Bryant with the pick and get a much better player. This draft totally blows.

The upside is that there will be an influx of athletic bigs in the NBA, and as-much as BTH has improved, he is slow, and not that athletic. If you project out a few years McGee might be the type of big that can hang with all these new bigs

I said before the draft he IMO was the biggest bust. So to me, yes, he's the worst pick in the draft...

Well maybe tied with Jason Thompson at #12.

After intially saying WTF!?!?!?! after seeing this pick, I am beginning to change my tune, Just watched some of his highlight reels, they are not overly impressive, but shows a wide variety of skills and It hink a high ceiling. McGee is a legit 237 pounds at 7' tall and his wingspan is 7'6'' (Holy crap is all I can say), and from watching the highlights it looks like he runs the floor well and he isnt afraid of getting banged up a little. Neveda fans called him the "The Big Secret" and I think this has some merit to it, just because he didn't play on national TV that much, doesn't mean Ernie doesn't know what he is drafting.

Not going to try and give much of an opinion about this guy since I have never seen him play.

I dont think you can become a bust when you are picked 18th...If he was a top ten pick like Patrick O'Bryant, then he could be POTENTIALLY A BUST...he hasnt played yet.

lol this'll be a great thread to view again in a few years. tons of people here will look real foolish if Mcgee turns out to be a great pick.

What can I say, I'm at a loss as to what GMEG is thinking. Another project that isn't going to get any minutes playing behind Haywood, Blatche, Etan and Songaila.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, GMEG is too damn cute for his own good.

Just imagine how nasty our front line will be in a couple years if Blatche and Mcgee reach their potential. With Arenas and Young at the guard spots and Butler filling in the blanks. Niceeee
