If 5/40 is what it takes all I have to say is I wish they picked Marshon Brooks!

Surprise, the CBA has done nothing to protect franchises from making fiscally irresponsible decisions.

So, at this point, does anybody not expect us to resign N1 for 50-100% more than they were hoping?

What Thad Young resigns for will be in the ballpark of what N1 will ask for. Wiretap says he's close to resigning.

Thad Young is a small forward who can't shoot. I would look into sign and trade possibilities. Let the Bulls have him, ask for Asik or Taj Gibson plus a pick in return.

Keep in mind that the Kings need to get to the salary floor, so has a role in how much they pay Thornton. Also, guys who get signed first get signed for most. I believe the Wizards are saving money by waiting for the market to set itself for Young. We won't know what it is until someone signs him to an offer sheet.

It might not be the worst thing in the world if we let other teams blow their wad this year, then get more for our buck in years to come.
I'd like to keep Young, but not at 5 mill/year. Definitely not at 8...

I really hope we don't sound Nick now. $40 million? Yikes!

If the price is 5 years and $40 million, LET YOUNG DEPART. He's not worth that kind of money.

Reggie Williams could sign for 3 years/10 mil and be as productive.
40 mil to Thornton [or Nick] is a joke.

Would anyone here consider 5 years 30 mill for NY?

What if they pay him $36M this year and then $1M each for the next 4? That could work, right?

waive Lewis, and next year it will be like waiving him a second time.

The long term deals are what screw teams over. I would pay him $6 million for 3 years. After 3 years we will know for sure what kind of player Crawford is. Nick would probably be an easy trade as an expirer.

Re: Bean Burrito / Nick Young Appreciation Thread.
I don't think there's any scenario where giving Nick $40 mil is palatable. I don't care if you give him $15 mil this season. He's not worth more than $5 mil a year IMO, and even that's pushing it.
Let him go. Start Mason for all I care.

Like fishercob said, don't forget that the Kings had to reach the cap floor, as they were way below it. They had to take that into consideration during the Thornton signing.

Welp, this is where EG either earns his salary, or he doesn't. Sacramento's GM could have done with some patience. This might be where EG's experience and "deliberate" approach pays dividends.

Re: Bean Burrito / Nick Young Appreciation Thread.
4 years/$20 million or see what offers he gets and decides whether he will match or not or work out a sign and trade. Ernie's doing the right thing and not setting the market for Young, so he won't risk overpaying. Either way, Young needs to sign by the 26th so...he doesn't have much time.
