What about the end of the half when he blindly inbounded the ball and threw it away for a layup after they just scored on him. He's been terrible in the first 3 quarters. Hopefully he ends strong.

Those were terrible too, and he just made a dirk-like shot. I think he'd be better served playing with guys that know how to pass though.

True but this is summer league. There's a lot of garbage on the floor. He can control the game on the boards and defensively even if he's not getting the ball offensively. I think he's kind of floating through this one.

Most other teams garbage is better then our garbage though. EG consistently sabotages our SL rosters.

I will say one thing, it isn't good that Vesely's intensity didn't ignite until he got benched...Just cause he doesn't get touches doesn't mean he's allowed to slouch. He had a decent 4th quarter but he needs to put together a full game.

Has nothing to do with the way he played in the first 3 quarters. No excuses. He came out in the fourth quarter, hit a fadeaway, got a layup and hustled for a tip. That has nothing to do with his teammates. It's all about effort.

Not liking Glen Rice Jr's vibe when things aren't going well. Just my observation, but he seems to have a certain negative energy about him that doesn't remind me of anybody currently on the roster.

He's got some "Imma get mine" type scoring mentality about him. He just needs to know when not to shot jack.

It's not his shot selection I'm talking about, some of his facial expressions to me speak of a lack of composure. That's just me, I could be wrong though.

Don't see it that way. He did force some shots but also was the only one looking to pass at times. I seee it as he gets frustrated when thing aren't going well. Being around some vets and guys like Wall/Beal will help him mature there. It's unlike the knuckleheads we used to have. Those guys would get excited if they scored a bucket even if we were down 30.

I did like that when he got frustrated he started going to the basket. he needs to keep attacking the rim. He has a knack for getting to the hoop and getting his shot off.

Agreed. It seemed like he was frustrated by the pgs pounding the rock for most of the shot clock but no excuses. Speaking of the pgs, why did the coaches stick with Lawrence and Haynes together so long? It was painful to watch them dribble then shoot a long two.

Rice's ability to take it to the hoop, absorb contact and still score has been probably the most impressive aspect of his game.

He has to believe in himself. There is something there, but they can't keep waiting. This isn't intramurals. Witt's job is on the line. He can't give Vesely time if he isn't going to produce, play hard and tough whether it's at backup center or power forward. If he plays scared, doesn't want the ball because he's afraid of going to the foul line and passes it out every time somebody dishes to him, F-em. Time to go. You have to have the heart and courage to play in this league, especially if you're a big with no jump shot. Some strides were made in SL but if that doesn't translate in November, sayanora.

Jan's "Dirk shot" looks good. Judging by the new form on his jump shot, I believe Vesely is capable of being a fundamentally-sound, good, free throw shooter.

Vesely just needs a little self-confidence. I think the beard works for him. (Funny, we suggested as much a while back.) Jan with confidence is a contributor. I would say the guy just needs faith that he belongs in the NBA, that he has worked extremely hard, and that his shot drops now.

I bet he's taken a ton of free throws to get that jumper right. That's really all one needs to do to get his shooting form down pat IMO. Jan has definitely put work on that shot. There's no reason why he can't at least be a 75% FT shooter.

He threw up an airball during the game today that was about 3 feet short of the basket. I seriously doubt he'll get to 75% from the line. Frankly, I'd be really surprised if he breaks 60%. But at least that's better than the 31% he shot last year.

On the positive side, after each near air ball he followed it up with a make. The key will be how he reacts to an airball or bad miss when he's running with guys like Wall, Beal, Néne....will he shrink?

Watching today's game reminds me of the maddening feeling I get when we get destroyed on the glass and how that can derail and entire gameplan. GET BLAIR!

Jan's a worse shooter from the line than he would be taking a shot from the exact same spot in the flow of the game. He's not thinking when he's on the floor. Thinks too much when he gets to the line.

He's not in a great situation for him here. You build your confidence from seeing success. But to see success you have to get in games and play real minutes. You have to know you can get X number of minutes the next game even if you make mistakes.

Unfortunately for him, the coaches aren't going to give him that kind of rope here. We don't need him to play right now. And the coach is trying to get his next contract. Winning comes first, developing the marginal young players comes second. It sucks, but I don't see a solution. He's probably going to have to find a better situation somewhere else to develop.

Rice was also unselfish on the fast break- when he could have gotten a layup himself he fed it to the open teammate for an easier shot on consecutive possessions.
