I don't think we can do that now that we pissed away our capspace on a pointless trade.

He might not be top 20, but he's at least top 30 right now and he's 22 years old.
I can see top 30...but is he worth the 3rd pick AND Seraphin?

Watching the Draft Lottery is, most years, like watching the actual lottery that comes on right before the local news. You have your numbers, and you don't really think they'll come up, but it's fun to dream. And when you strike out, tear up the slips and go on with your life. (Although, to make the analogy complete - given the way the Wiz have almost always gone backwards, it'd be like seeing your numbers didn't come up and then having to go back to the gas station and give them another $20 after the fact. But I digress...)
Most years, Draft Night is like watching a Norv Turner-era Redskins game. Again, you don't expect to win, but go into it with some hope ("Maybe they can pull off the trade-up to get Kanter!"). Then, some promising developments fuel even more hope ("Maybe Caron Butler will slip all the way to 10!"). And just when you think we might finally catch a break and we'll end up with a win, Gus throws a pick-six in the final minute ("I CANNOT believe we passed on Karl Malone/Fareid/fill in the blank" or "I can't believe we missed out on Reggie Miller/Caron Butler/Roy Hibbert by ONE SPOT!")
Tonight is starting to feel like watching a cheap horror movie. You know the kids shouldn't go into the house. All they have to do is get back in the car and drive away. And yet they keep walking to the house. And go in. And don't leave. And end up as sushi. All EG has to do is stay where he is and take Beal (my preference) or MKG. That's it. And yet, all through the day, the tension will continue to build. I can already hear the scary music in the background. Rumors start to leak about a Gasol trade. Or a Blatche dump. Or how much we like Drummond's upside. And in the end, in an all-too-predictable finale, we end up with.....Harrison Barnes.![]()
Sure hope I'm wrong on this one, but that's absolutely the way it feels 10 hours ahead of time.

Source: Bobcats have five legit offers they're currently exploring to trade the second pick overall in tonight's NBA Draft.

I think I prefer the time back in the day where you used to wait for Glenn Brenner (my all time fav sports caster - he was a RIOT) and then later George Michael (Brenner seemed to come on like 5 minutes earlier usually) talk about the draft. The first draft I remember being excited to read about was around 1980ish, where we got Rick Mahorn in an early round. Him plus Ruland the next year (I forgot how we drafted him) gave me hope that the Beef Brothers could return us to contendas... Suffice to say, that didn't happen. Then we had the parade of dwarfs and skinny thin Giants, and finally lots of draft trades for the latest has been. Yeah...most years, draft day for Wizards fans are not good days.

I used to get my draft news from the radio because Ken Beatrice always seemed about 10X more knowledgeable than anyone else out there. Yes, he had a nasal voice, patted himself on the back a lot, and avoided humor on his show but if you wanted good information, he was easily the best sportscaster I've ever heard up to this day.
