Craig Sager during NBA on TNT's All-Star coverage tonight: Bill Russell was talking to Lebron James tonight and said "Hey thank you for leaving me off your Mt. Rushmore-glad you did....basketball is a team game- it's not for individual honors. I won back-to-back state championships in high school, back-to-back NCAA in college, I won an NBA championship my 1st year in the league, an NBA championship my last year & nine in between & that Mr. James is etched in stone."

He's been the 2nd best player on the East so far though.

And if he leaves Larry Bird or Magic off....he left off a guy who helped save the NBA. If he leaves Oscar off he left off a guy that averaged a Triple Double. etc etc

They asked him a question. He answered it. If YOU dont have Bill Russell in your top 4 of all time. Why should people complain about LeBron doing it? Either way...whoever he left off was going to be viewed as disrespectful to people. The way it is.

Vogel needs to let Wall finish the game in Wade's place

Nah. He's gotta bring in a big because he wants to keep LeBron, Melo and George on the floor. Especially since Kyrie's been the best player on the East this game.

Wall's night is likely over.

I was hoping that he'd outplay Irving (so as to get an advantage for All-Star voting next year), but Irving's recent flurry put that to bed as well.

But Wall did fine; he definitely looked like he belonged.

Great game so far.

Griffin almost got 40.

Durant's in the 30s.

Melo almost 30.

Kyrie with 28/12

Great game so far.

Wall would have had a couple more assists if Noah had better hands

He did enough for his brand already by winning the dunk contest. He will get a ton of starter votes next year, especially if he does well in the playoffs aka Curry

Before the dunk contest he had under a million twitter followers, now he has over that and counting. His profile has definitely increased

Man, at this point, Kyrie might fool around and win the MVP. Exactly what I didn't want to happen.

True. But the all star game is where he really could have built his brand. He's played solid.

Heck, he played better than Kyrie this year. However, Kyrie dominating the game like he did today will just keep Kyrie "propped" ahead of Wall. Wall was too passive imo.

very rarely does a bench guy outplay the starter. The minutes, teammates, meaningful time just doesnt allow it so I wasnt expecting much but he did better then pretty much any bench player on either team

Oh, no doubt. Wall looked like he belonged -- like he was a peer. Unlike, say, Milsap or DeRozan. My hope was two-fold: that Wall would look like he belonged (check), and that Melo, George, and/or LeBron would dominate the ball such that Irving had a minimal impact.

The latter clearly didn't happen.

Who the **** cares what Irving does. If he wins the MVP kudos to him, could care less.

No one is gonna remember this game when Wall is playing in April/May and being talked about, and Irving isn't.
You build your brand in the playoffs, Curry didn't make the game at all last year but came in this season as a leading votegetter

Kyrie has a reputation as a highlight/showboating player, this just adds to that narrative. It's going to eventually become a running joke that he shows out in All Star games but doesn't get wins (ala Marbury, Francis etc)

be on the lookout for Kyrie & the Cavs too. They have kinda righted the ship before the break. Wouldnt be surprised if Kyrie, Waiters, Deng, & Bennett have a strong finish and make a playoff push.

Overall Im truly excited for the NBA. Maybe its just the Wiz being in the race but I truly think this 2nd half is going to be special in both conferences and I think Wall/Beal will step up to the challenge. I cant wait for this Raptors game. It sets the tone for the rest of the season. Are Wall/Beal going to now go to the next level while we go for the 3rd seed or is Toronto going to show why they are the 3 seed and Lowry/Derozan going to show that they are a better backcourt

Wall's was at a bunch of disadvantages going into this game. For one, he's not the starter. For another he's not a 1 on 1 iso scorer like Irving is. Thirdly, he's not a good enough shooter to play off-ball with better, higher profile, ball dominant players like Melo and Lebron. If Wall was on the West, he could have done what CP3 did and dish out a grip of assists. Just a bad mix of circumstances for an exhibition. Wall already had a good all-star weekend and in the grand scheme of things, winning in the playoffs while Cleveland plays its way to another lottery will end up having a bigger impact.

Off topic but, and maybe to the wrong demographic, but do you all have John Wall's shoes? Or even know about them?

Agreed, the team I'm really keyed in on is Toronto. They've been playing great on both sides of the ball, even though I don't think they have more talent than us. Our guys should be trying to prove that we're on their level as a team
