46 wins

The loss of Ariza will be felt defensively. Offensively will be better.

51-31. I see us surpassing 50 wins for the first time in forever, but not by much. I think the team will continue to gel, and increase efficiency on offense. I expect the Truth to help them reach at least the second round in the playoffs, with an outside chance at the conference finals. I expect to see jumps in both Beal and Wall's game, and really really hope to see Porter contributing effective minutes.

My wild guess -- 45 wins. 6th seed. Ousted in the first round.

45 wins. The loss of the teams most productive player hurts, but a bench that doesn't suck will be a big help. Pierce will win a few games late and I expect Beal to be more efficient.

I think we win the southeast while the Hornets get second with 44 wins. The Raps get 50, Cavs get 55, and Bulls get 52 making the Wizards a 4th seed. It's going to be a good year for the East.

I really don't know what to make of the Raptors. They could be ascending, but I'm not convinced. I think the Wizards are better than the Raptors. We've strengthened our team (I think so anyways, the Ariza loss hurts defense, but I think we've got more depth, and we'll continue to gel, with improvements to Wall and Beal) while the Raptors have stayed largely the same. I think they overperformed last season. But again, I'm not totally confident in that assessment. Maybe they are "real".

We are built for the regular season. We are fast and deep, but have no star big for when the game slows down (though we have Blair and Pierce). We will get some cred with the refs given our postseason showing. Some of that respect will be given to Gortat, so he will be awarded more benefits-of-the-doubt on foul calls. The Gortat/Wall show should be marginally more in sync. Beal should develop. Rice and Porter should have good showings. The loss of Ariza means Gortat will be even more challenged, as more penetration will occur. Porter simply doesn't have the footspeed to be the help-defender, stealer, blocker, and man-defender that Ariza was. Nor does Pierce. And Gortat has proven one of his weaknesses is rotation. He was continually a step slow last season. Our rebounding should improve, perhaps signifcantly. We are fortified against injury, so we shouldn't have a dip if someone sprains a toe.

If the East weren't so young and in transition, I'd say we'd have less of a shot at the second round than last season (because the east is better than last season). It will take many of the younger east teams more time to develop and/or gel. So, we could make some noise this year, and then come back to earth the season after.

Head says 50. Heart says 54. So... 52.

I'm at 50-32. I think ppl are really underrating the upgrade we got in Blair/Humphries, having Miller for a full season, and Otto/GRJr brining much more to the table then Martell did.

Don't have much faith that Pierce still has much left in the tank, so to me it'll largely come down to whether Porter can earn the coaching staffs trust, and whether he'll be able to perform well in limited minutes on the floor.

Losing Ariza's defense is going to hurt more than people are willing to acknowledge. I think Washington will take a step backwards in that department.

Washington has room to improve their home record, but I'm not sure that they'll be able to continue their success on the road.

43-39 seems about right, which should be enough for 4th in the weak East.

Wasn't expecting that prediction from you Nivek and Ousted in the first round. I'd be willing to put up a side bet that the Bullets/Wizards make it out of the first round. I got some scratch as long as it's reasonable. Such as Ben's Chili Bowl husband and wife dinner (Healthy), Bottle of 15 year Scotch (SingleBlend), Tee Time (Good Golf Course).

I think we are a 40+ / sub 50 win team as we stand right now. I think we can be a 50+ win team if we get a younger quality back up point guard, who can take a heavy minute load if wall goes down. Now things can add to that as well, such as PP and NENE out playing father time or Porter and Rice putting up per minute production numbers on par with their summer league numbers. But, the opposite of those things could end up loosing us some games!

No better way to touch out Nate at the finish line than to have a ECS prediction :)

He'll probably offer the same. Then we can both be wrong.

I think chemistry will take a hit. Washington has not improved its perimeter defense. They added two power forwards too many. The Wizards are slower. They did not add a rim protector. They needed to add some speed in the backcourt for times Wall is ineffective.

I think the Wizards will win 42 games. I think they will miss Ariza more than they think.

Hopefully, I'm wrong and they win 52 games. A successful season in my opinion is anything more than 47 wins, or advancing beyond round 2.
