IMO that is just horrible and will handicap Minnesota for the next 10 years. They aren’t winning a championship with Gobert. He’s already 30 years old.

That’s Walker Kessler (2022 1st round pick), three unprotected 1st, one protected 1st, and a pick swap, all to lose in round 2 of the playoffs for a couple of years.

That’s the kind of move I’m praying the Wizards don’t make.

It's a big, big gamble.

I guess the logic is that Edwards and KAT give you the offense, you just need to play D around them. Gobert is a one-man defense.

My first thought was that it's a mistake to play KAT at PF on offense, but then I realized that has basically been their PF on offense because Vanderbilt basically plays the center's role (offensive boards and rim running). So essentially, they're replacing Vanderbilt with Gobert.

I think it's plausible that it could work out, but only if Edwards takes a pretty big leap from here. They definitely overpaid though. Who else was going to give 5 FRP's and a pick swap? Ainge does it again!

Bro those picks, jeezus.

Going to guess Mitchell is gone too. Probably for a pick horde from Miami.

Miami's pick horde is pretty skimpy.

I'm a little surprised that Ainge didn't work out a Mitchell deal with New York. They were one of the few teams who had stockpiled enough picks to get it done. But now New York has committed to Brunson at PG.

Utah is keeping Mitchell, for now atleast.

Hmm. I wonder if Ainge could make a play for Durant.

Conley + Bogdanovic + a bunch of picks for Durant. Who else could give Brooklyn a better deal?

Utah would be left with Mitchell and Durant, plus Clarkson, Beasley, Vanderbilt, Gay, Kessler and Hernangomez

You think KD wants to go to Utah? Ainge has to build slowly. He's got time and the picks to do so. Also is super close to their owner.

Who knows what KD wants?

I'm sure Ainge's original plan was a long rebuild, but if Durant could be obtained on a discount, it's worth considering.

That is an insane return for Gobert.

I would love it if Brooklyn traded Durant and Kyrie both to Utah. Would be hilarious.

You gotta respect a guy like Ainge who is 63 (not that that's particularly old) and is willing to do a partial rebuild. He just went through that whole process with Boston.

I doubt anyone really wants Kyrie. The Lakers are a tinderbox already. Kyrie would for sure light a match at some point

Gobert's deal expires in 2026 and Minnesota isn't done owing the Jazz picks until 2029. Insane.

What on earth is KD going to go for if they paid Beasley, and basically 5 firsts and a pick swap.

Minnesota actually could have upset the Grizzlies in round 1. The Wolves had a double digit lead in every game that series that they lost. So maybe they wouldn't have collapsed. So adding Gobert could increase their title chaces. Granted, Utah obviously has to do this deal because there's a decent chance the Timberwolves collapse and it wasn't like the Timberwolves through in a young prospect. Also the Wolves may miss Beverly.

Could we move Kispert and/or Rui for some of Utahs first rounders? They seem like Jazz kind of players.

The wolves can always replenish those picks and more if does not work out by trading KAT and or Ant. I admire the move.
