What, because we didn't execute perfectly down the stretch? Come on.
Now, you talk about "deserving." The Bron deserves to get thrown into the basket support. He deserves to have his smug, sullen face exposed to a little bit of pummeling fist work. He deserves to have all these yahoos in the media stop sucking his goddam d i c k every broadcast.

Oh my gosh dude, this man can't win. If Haywood doesn't play enough, complaints about EJ not playing him enough. Caron plays 40 minutes, complaints that EJ played him too much. Which one is it? You either play your good players or you don't. Did you see how bad we were without Butler?

I won't knock EJ for that. I wanted Caron to play the whole game.
He's still a mediocre coach though.

Butler waived off a substitution in the middle of the 4th quarter, so he felt like he could play it out. Great win to get to .500; even if it was ugly, it's always good to win against the Cavs. The Wizards did a lot of things that could have cost them the game like Jamison shooting jumpers early in the shot clock or missing free throws. Still, it was a great effort defensively by the whole team keyed by Stevenson.

Not a particularly impressive game from the Wizards, but I'll take it. Better to win ugly than lose pretty. The Wizards got a little lucky that Cleveland missed so many open 3's in the 2nd half.
The commentary was driving me crazy. All the talk about the Cavs' injury problems had me wanting to put my shoe through the TV. They were missing Z, Gibson and Eric Snow. Be whoop de frickin do.
Arenas >> Z
Etan = Gibson
Pecherov = Snow
Even with Butler back, the Wizards still had more injury problems than Cleveland. Why did we keep hearing about Cleveland's problems?
Great game by Deshawn. I also liked Haywood's play. He really clogged up the middle and diverted a lot of Lebron's drives. And he wasn't bashful about committing the hard foul.
It's good to have Butler back. He was a bit rusty, but I had really missed the ball movement that he provides. He make such quick, crisp passes to the cutters. He only had one assist but it seemed like a lot more. Guys weren't catching his passes that well, or they were getting fouled before they could convert.

Weird game.
First off, the officiating wasn't just bad, it was Steve Javie, Tony Brothers, Violet Palmer bad. It took some of the rhythm out of the game and as usual, La Travel got away with murder (until that last charge which I'm still shocked about).
Second of all, we sucked monkey balls down the stretch. From about 3 minutes left until a minute left, we did nothing resembling running an offense or calling a play.
We really needed a couple of possessions after Cleveland hit their free throws (Big Ben and La Douche) to start from half court with a play called. Our players were dragging, we were out of sink and no one was in a position to take it in his own hands. These are spots where your system typically fails and play calls work.
Third of all, a couple real casualties of Tough Juice coming back were Roger Mason and Blatche. Not that I'm not celebrating TJ's return, but Mason has earned his minutes. I know N1 had a great game against Milwaukee, but I think Mason still needs to be the first guard off the bench and, in the fourth, I would have loved to see him get the Young-ster's minutes. And, even though Songalia had a decent game today (except for getting used on the glass), Blatche needs to be the first big off the bench.
All in all though, I'll take it and breathe a humongous sigh of relief. Le Whine's last shot looked good all the way.

You know how the ESPN NBA scoreboard shows 3 "Top Performers" for the night? Right now, it's showing LeBrick, Pavlovic, and West. Is the scoreboard malfunctioning? Because I thought it said that the Cavs lost....
Then again, when you have 7 players in double figures, it's tough to single out one or two as the "top performers" for the game.

Blatche wasn't really much of a Tough Juice casualty. He was mostly a Blatche casualty. He picked up FIVE fouls in 11 MINUTES. If he doesn't learn how to control his fouls, he's never going to be able to play full time starter minutes.

I stand corrected. I haven't peered at the box yet, and I heard the announcers say Blatche had 5 fouls, but I thought that they had that wrong. He does foul a lot... he also gets whistled for some soft ones. Doesn't have the respect of NBA officials just yet.

No doubt. That's usually Gilbert time, when he can break a defense down and get to the line.
Nate's right, it wasn't pretty, but I love that we got the W.
I love that Stevenson and Haywood are setting the tone on D -- not just with good play, but with a physical, F U style. I love that Haywood put Lebron on his ass a couple of times, and just as importantly that Deshawn got into Lebron's head a little bit. That's right out of Bowen and Raja's book. If DS and and LBJ are engaged in a somewhat of a distracting yapathon, it's a huge net positive for the Wiz.
I love our team's unity. It's unique. These guys enjoy playing with one another and pick each other up.
I was disappointed to see Dray lose control of his emotions in the first half and pick up that silly 4th foul. He played OK in the second though, and Songaila and Haywood's contributions picked him up.
Our depth with a healthy team is going to be very troublesome for opponents in a seven game series.
Be afraid, eastern conference. Be very afraid.

Two great points: DS needs for Le High School to make it personal.
And, did you see Gilbert leading the reserves on the bench in the final minutes: going arm in arm for free throws and the like. That was great to see.
