If the raps are tearing it down, we should call about Boucher.

That would be a hell of a thought if the Heat had a pick to trade in the next half dozen years.

In an alternate universe, we picked up Wagner’s option, Bryant never tears his ACL, we actually play our 2018 1st round pick so he has some trade value, and we package Brown+Hachimura+Bryant for an elite C, and play Wagner+Mathews+Bonga+Avdija the minutes they deserve.

Good call -- but, no pick -- they'll throw in Avery Bradley instead. & get Houston's R2 pick next year in the deal.

Just don't play Wagner's theme song: "More More Moe" by Andrea True.

Wagner is playing better than last year overall -- mostly b/c he's fouling a little less, turning it over less & has more steals. Despite shooting a little worse & rebounding a little worse than last year.

Still, it's a stretch to make much of a case for him.

I love williams III I think he's got some potential . But the advanced stats make the gap look bigger than it is. But the age and potential factor obviously you go with Williams III. But in a trade for Bertans when you get lopez back to replace him, lopez covers that production enough to justify trading him for Bertans. Imo, I'll admit that I am being too nice to robin, but my point I think stands .

Wait. You are actually saying that Williams & Lopez are playing about at the same level? Or maybe Robin is playing better? How can you possibly write something like that?

Williams scores marginally more points than Lopez per 40 minutes (@ 1 extra point). &... that's about as far as being "on par" goes.

Unless you think 2.33 times as many defensive rebounds is "on a par" w/ Lopez. Or 26% more offensive boards, 45% more assists, almost 3 times as many blocked shots, almost 4 times as many steals & a TS% of 72% vs. Robin's 63%.

Robert Williams is playing at an incredibly high level this season.

That's not gonna cut it. Simply need a better, more talented option.

Since becoming a starter, Wagner is +0.1 in 16 minutes a game. That's about a +0.3 Net Rating per 100 possessions.

Incidentally, the team has been +0.7 during that same stretch, giving Wagner a slightly negative on/off differential.

I'm not hating. I like Wagner. But we have to be realistic about his impact. His great net rating was generated when he was a backup. He has much more trouble hanging with starters. He is matchup dependent. He can really abuse some guys with his crafty game, but many of the starting caliber centers in this league are just too big and too strong for him.

Counterpoint: we want an impact C, but we get adequate play from the C position most nights. This team gets nothing from the PF position for 30 minutes and subpar PG play most nights and has a coach that does not emphasize ball movement. We minimize the abilities of almost every player on the roster.

Westbrook and Hachimura kill us. Wagner&Lopez have been decent.

Wagner is an impact backup C.

We need a starting center that won't get beaten up by the likes of Jonny V.

Wiz in : Drummand, Nitillkina , Brazdeikis 2021and 2023 pistons seconds and 2023 mavs first (protected 1-10, till 2025)
Wiz out : Bertans , lopez, Ish , robinson, bryant.

Cavs in: bryant, ish , robinson
Cavs out : drummand

NYK in Bertans and lopez
NYK out. NItillkina and Brazdeikis , 2021 and 2023 pistons seconds and 2023 mavs first.

The kicks really need a power punch and some range. Bertans give them that. They need some center depth too ala lopez. You can take out a second or maybe both but the players they are giving up have little to no value. Lopez is acting well and Bertans is back in form I think this is a fair offer for them.

Cavs same as before bryant is the best asset they will get for him.

Wiz well like I said before drummand rebounding fixes a lot of issues for us. We also re gain some assets those pistons seconds will be nice with out cap situation and that 2023 first has a chance to match up with the one we traded away for westbrook. NItillkina could be referbished here but the betrer thing is I'd rather play a defensive pg like him over ish with this team. Taking out 5 players and bringing in three gives us room to bring up mathews and get him long term and a spot to play the buy out market or trade mo and maybe brown for something.

Not really a counterpoint. More of a changing of the subject. Whether Hachimura is good or not has little bearing on whether or not Wagner is a quality starting center.

It's really 2 different trades. I'd do the Cleveland trade because I think we'll be better off at center next year with $9M in cap room than we would be with Bryant at $9M. And in the meantime, we get to kick the tires on Drummond to see if he could fit in.

The New York trade is a no-brainer from our perspective, but I don't see the Knicks doing it.

It has plenty to do with where we point the finger when we lose games. The numbers show that Wagner has the best on/off differential on the team(by a mile), that is an objective fact. No one made the claim that he is a “quality starting center” I made the claim that we should play Wagner more than 16 minutes and we are losing games because we get 30 minutes of playing 4 on 5 because Hachimura is terrible. Westbrook is also a net negative.
