That’s a fantastic addition to Deni and Bilal and Vukcevic and our 2 or 3 or 4 picks in the draft.

We have to discount this season, at least somewhat; the “scandal” was a distraction, and he never meshed with the new squad. But he can most definitely play. And there’s a lot of room to grow.

Agreed. Still managed 17.7 points 9.2 rebounds 6.9 assists 0.9 steals 0.8 blocks per 36 on 54.7% TS as a 21 year old.

He’s a reliable 3pt shot away from being elite. No reason why a 21 year old 80% FT shooter won’t continue to develop as a 3pt shooter.

I remember how badly Jason Kidd shot threes his first few seasons. Giddey has time to make adjustments.

As a Cal Alum from the same era I can underline that Kidd was basically about directing offenses with the passing flair of Magic and other historically mega elite passers, but he was never a scoring weapon, his shot was too ----. Maybe he improved to just below average or average over time, I stopped paying attention, but his key deficit coming in was always shooting: all shooting, not just 3's.

Sidery cites the Yahoo.com article as the source…might not be true but he’s not the one reporting it.

He pretty much does the same thing in most of his tweets.

Yeah, the Jake Fischer article linked only said this about Kuzma:

Kyle Kuzma will be another advanced wing player on the trade market, although Washington’s asking price for the veteran scorer prior to February’s trade deadline was too rich for most rival teams.

It's a stretch to imply that the Wizards are actively shopping Kuzma just because Fisher said Kuzma is "on the trade market". Fischer might merely be making an assumption since Kuzma is clearly not on the Wizards' timeline.

Will say, on the Run it Back podcast, when asked about Kuzma being a pillar/leader of the team and a part of the future, Dawkins clearly sidestepped the question, and stated that “Kuzma has played his best basketball in DC”

I’m almost certain that Kuzma is gone on draft night.

Don't get me wrong. I do believe the Wizards are quietly shopping him, or at least they are answering the phone about him. But the tweet makes it sound like the Wizards have affirmatively stated that they are actively shopping him, which is not the case.

I'm less sure that Kuzma will be gone this summer than you. If a good offer comes along, then, sure, they'll move him. But if the offers are lousy, I expect management to be patient and wait for a better opportunity.

My impression is that Kuzma has a team(s) that he would prefer to get traded to, but they weren't able to make the deal at the deadline. That would explain why he turned down the Dallas trade. I have a hard time believing that he turned down that deal with the intention of staying on a rebuilding team the next few years.

My guess is that he wants to go back to LA. Problem is that the two FO's probably aren't going to agree on comp.

Which playoff team is most-likely to want Kuzma? OKC and the Kings could be good targets,12th & 13th picks.

Funny Kuzma turning down Dallas because they didn't seem to be on the right timeline for winning a chip. And yet, they're still in it.

Yeah, gotta wonder if he's not regretting that decision now.

Maybe. But according to the instagramps he's in Cannes with Winnie Harlow so he's probably not crying too hard.

I could see it, especially given OKC’s glaring need for size and the fact that Giddey is pretty much an afterthought on a team that relies heavily on SGA and Jalen Williams to handle the ball and generate offense from the perimeter. Giddey is kinda useless as an off-the-ball player.

As a third or fourth offensive option, Kuz could work out well for OKC.

Good.... I'd love it to happen. Giddey's still only 21, meaning that he fits our timeline.

Note that Giddey was 5th on OKC in minutes last year. He also led the team in assists (among players who logged more than 365 minutes). He was 3d on the team in rebounds.

Per 40 minutes, Giddey took the 3d highest # of shots on the Thunder -- behind Holmgren, who led the team, & only slightly behind Jalen Williams, who took .9 more shots than Giddey (he got to the line a bit more frequently as well).

It won't be Sac (IMO). They have Barnes and Murray with Lyles coming off the bench.

What they really need is a C. They would be extremely happy with Yves Missi (or maybe Filipowski) if he falls to 16, IMO.

Maybe if you could find a three-team deal where they get the C they want to back up Sabonis?

And OKC tends to hold onto their picks (because... well, they are pretty good at selecting talent in the draft).

I still think our best chance (and it is slim) is with Portland. But there has to be a guy they really want with #2.

My dream for this draft is that Portland wants Clingan and trades us #9 and a protected 2025 pick for our #2. I think one of Castle Reed or Holland will be there at 9
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

The two playoff/playoff-hopeful teams that scream Kuz are the Nets (See my previous post with Nate), and the Cavs.
The Cavs are going to move Allen and maybe Garland this summer, so they are going to be completely reshuffled. George Niang and Dean Wade aint going to cut it.
They need a 3rd/4th piece to put next to Mobley, while keeping in mind that they are maxing Mitchell and Mobley.
I wont concern myself with the assets coming back, because it would be from a 3rd team (Whomever gets Allen/Garland).
Kuz also grew up 3 hours away from Cleveland and would be welcomed.

Portland has 7 & 14 -- 9 belongs to Memphis.

My "dream" is Portland's 2 R1 picks (7 & 14) & their 2 R2 picks (34 & 40) for our 3 picks (2, 26, & 51).

I don't know whether Sheppard will still be on the board at 7. I seem to want 1 more bite of the apple.
