Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
I'm curious to see what Philly does with the cap space. Looks like they struck out on Paul George, but they could still throw a bag at OG and KCP. They are arguably better fits than PG IMO.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

I keep picturing Klay Thompson in a Sixers uni. KCP brings shooting at a lower cost, but I think Klay still has the ability to explode offensively on some nights. Of course the question is "how many nights"? But if being the third option all season means Klay has more left in the tank and can be a quasi-star come playoff time, maybe he could get Philly over the hump in a way a pure role player KCP can't (price tag notwithstanding).

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
OKC definitely needs one more guy. Paul George could go back, right? That would be quite a team, and an interesting story (Presti playing the super long game!). They would still need some size, but they'd be hard to beat.
Klay going to Philly makes sense, next to Maxey and Embiid. Philly has a billion dollars in cap space and can bring in basically whoever they want.

Seems whacko for sure. But... his agent must have a slightly better deal for him on another team?

Yeah last season, Jock Landale averaged 6.6 and 4.1 rebounds last season and signed a 4 year 32 million deal. Is Eubanks comparable. Maybe some team is going to spend money on him.

So if I understand this right, as it stands now, the Knicks are hardcapped b/c Bridges makes more money than Bojan. However if the Knicks guarantee Jeffries and send a little more salary back, they free up the apron stuff and can bring back OG and Hartenstein.
Personally, I'd rather sign someone like Drummond for the minimum, but that's just me.
The fact that the Knicks kept both first round picks this year to round out the depth is absolutely insane.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
I think we should take a moment to contemplate what an incredible job the Houston front office has been doing in the past several years.
During the 2020-21 season, the situation was awful. After a 2nd round playoff exit the year before, the wheels had come off. Harden quit on the team, Wall was being paid $44M not to play. They had already lost their 2024 and 2026 FRP to OKC in the Chris Paul trade. They ended up trading Harden at gunpoint to Brooklyn, and somehow got back three Brooklyn picks and 4 swaps (the first two of which have not conveyed). They went on to win 17 games that year. A total lowpoint.
In Summer 2021, they drafted Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun
They won 20 games in 2021-22
In Summer 2022, they drafted Jabari Smith and Tari Eason
They won 22 games in 2022-23 but Sengun was a revelation
In Summer 2023, they drafted Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore while signing VanVleet and Brooks
They won 44 games in a 2023-24 in a ridiculous Western Conference with everyone in the rotation other than Brooks and VanVleet being first, second or third year player.
And now after the Brooklyn trade, they have the following future picks in the queue:
All their own FRP's except 2024 and 2026.
2024 #3 overall pick (from Brooklyn)
2025 pick swap with Phoenix
2027 PHX pick, unprotected
2029 PHX pick, unprotected
2029 DAL pick swap, unprotected
Those Phoenix picks could be in the top 5!

It'll be interesting to see if they bring back OG. Having just traded for Bridges and also expecting Randle back from injury means there would be a serious logjam at the forwards if they re-sign OG. But letting him walk means they gave up Quickley for a rental. Or maybe try to trade Randle and stick with the defense-first mentality?

Also heard that Houston betting on Phoenix to bottom out soon could also include a plan to offer to give them their picks back in return for Booker when the time comes. Either way they're setup nicely!

Love what Minny did last night, they got Rob Dillingham for a FRP 6 years from now, sometimes all you have to do is ask.

Interesting in context to what the Wizards got for Deni.
Dejounte Murray for 2025 1st (Lakers), 2027 1st (Least favorable of Bucks or Pels), Larry Nance and Dyson Daniels.
Thoughts?

Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

Pelicans did well. Hawks, not so sure. But, the league knows that Murray/Young wasn't really working. Not really the same situation as Deni. We're going to be Terd soup next year, with our without Deni. Hawks will probably be better without Murray, just because of the makeup of their team.
