Meh. I would assume any story that comes out at this point is either disinformation, made up for clicks, or both. If it is disinfo, the interesting part to me is naming Fears and the bit about our FO wanting to find a PG. That strikes me as baloney and contra to our FO's philospophy. We are nowhere near to drafting for position with a top 6 pick (maybe maybe with 18, but probably not even that). We need to find a top talent, whatever position they play. I would consider a Fears/PG smokescreen to be an attempt to get someone - probably Brooklyn - to move up to take Fears. So the Wizards can draft someone else. I think that would either be Ace or Maluach. Beyond Flagg and Harper, I think they have the highest upside in the draft. Getting someone to move into the top 5 to get Fears guarantees the Wizards can draft one of Ace, Maluach, or VJ.

That's a great take on Maluach -- very much along the lines Doc has been laying down as a path for him (& which I find convincing). He remains the guy I want.

I'd been thinking we could get Maluach w/ a trade down to 8, but it looks like the tide is turning in his direction.

I keep seeing people referencing Maluach in FIBA. How many games/ minutes did he play in FIBA? Seems to me like not many.

He's slow with a 30" vert and hasn't shown much of a motor. I don't buy the theory that Duke somehow held him back. Do they have a history of doing that with bigs? News to me.

Either, neither, or even both of us could turn out to be right in one or another or every way. Uncertainty is the name of the game in the draft, & the border between dreams & reality is particularly uncertain for us fans.

All I can find is 5 Olympic games (45 total minutes) in 2024-2025, 6 World Cup games (55 total minutes) in 2023-2024.

In 5 Olympic Games he had 11 points 14 rebounds 1 assist 5 turnovers 3 blocks on 4-9 shooting.

Probably because the teams at 2&3 really want to trade down.

Little worried that “surprising names” might mean Coulibaly. Hopefully it’s Carrington. I’d do as much as Carrington, 6, and the OKC 2026 1st.

I do think it’s far more likely that we eat the PG contract and swap 3&2. Spurs might wanna swing on Bailey at 3.

What if we were able to trade last years #2 pick Sarr and Coulibaly for Harper, and keep #6 ?? Maybe include 18 and our 2026 1st we got from Philly.

Spurs could pair Wemby and Sarr together, Coulibaly at SF with Castle and Fox in the backcourt.... At 18 maybe they add someone they like such as McNeeley.

Wizards get Harper and can take Maluach at 6.

AFM wrote:If we trade Bub, that would mean Deni for Harper. We could then permanently lock that Deni thread and I’ll stop losing my hair.

So, #6 & 18 + Bub to SA... Since they already have Fox & Castle, they could then draft Ace Bailey and a big. Bailey then of course becomes a superstar, #soWizards. 18 becomes a very good NBA starter and you will never hear the end of it from PIF about trading down.

I am also excited about possibly getting Ace.

Man it is going to be such a letdown if my top 5 guys are gone before we pick.

Harper has a very amateur jumpshot mechanics.
That is a concern. Should have been far more dominant in college.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Just got done watching the Bailey highlights vid. Holy ****. Harper is the better player but nobody has better highlights than Ace.

This was an example of what I was saying about his close out ability. How many guys could get this block?
