Immanuel Quickley gets $175 mil. Poole still worst contract in the league? Quickley is fine enough but that is a lot.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

I have a feeling when the new CBA kicks in, that's actually going to seem like a bargain. It feels crazy saying it's *only* $35M/year, but you've got guys like Brandon Ingram asking for $50M. The agents know there's about to be a huge influx of money coming and they're getting ahead of it.

But the new second apron rules kind of balance that out. How the PA allowed that to happen I'll never know!wewillnevertank wrote:9 and 20 wrote:Immanuel Quickley gets $175 mil. Poole still worst contract in the league? Quickley is fine enough but that is a lot.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
Leave it to Wizards Twitter to instigate a nontroversy.
I get that in a vacuum, this feels similar. However, I'd contend that:
A) Not all FRPs are created equally. I like the Carrington pick, but it doesn't have the same value as an FRP in a much more talented class (2025). Furthermore, when you trade for FRPs, a pick that comes sooner will always hold more weight than one you won't see until five years later.
B) Dyson Daniels is still a young prospect with considerable two-way upside. I could see Daniels as having gone as high as 4 in the 2024 draft.
C) Deni is four years younger than Dejounte. Plus, while Dejounte drastically improved as a shooter in ATL, the poor fit with the team essentially turned him into a distressed asset (not Dejounte's fault, but that's the market dynamic). Meanwhile, Deni is coming off a career year and has a much more attractive contract.
So yeah, if you remove the context, it looks like we got more for Deni, but it doesn't really make sense to me to gloat about an upsell of a 23-year-old being comparable to a downsell of a 27-year-old.

Dejounte has been an All Star and All NBA defender though.

I can't believe the waived CP3. Unless he just like wanted to and they did him a favor like they can't replace him. Money wise. They should have used him as a trade chip/walking TPE.

Well, they aren't a
organization, so I have to assume they exhausted whatever options they saw as making sense for them before making this move. Sometimes the market isn't what we on the outside might think it is. I saw that Chicago can't give away Lavine even with picks. Why? Because the market says they can't. And my assumption is that a team like GSW is going to make market based decisions.Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
So KCP comes in at $22M per, and Harden is at about $35M per on his 1+1 deal. Is Klay somewhere in-between?

I don’t think the number matters that much. Either you swing for a championship with whatever window Embiid has left or you don’t

Paul George is the SF Brad Beal, a decent player but nowhere near worth this kind of money. Kelly Oubre signed for an honest 2-year $16.3 M deal with Philly.

Their wing is pretty much solid. I wonder if Tobias Harris comes back on a cheap deal?closg00 wrote:Paul George is the SF Brad Beal, a decent player but nowhere near worth this kind of money. Kelly Oubre signed for an honest 2-year $16.3 M deal with Philly.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
Patrick Williams getting $90 million while Deni got $55 million makes me think Deni's agent screwed up here.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Not a wide body, but it would have been fun having Jalen running with our guys instead of JV.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
Philly is going to be interesting. Maxey/Oubre/George/?/Embiid w/Drummond, Gordon and McCain off the bench. IMO, they still need like 2-3 more guys. I think they should bring back Batum on the minimum, but they got $9 million to play with and I can see them going after a Kyle Anderson with the space they have. It wouldn't be the worse idea to bring back Harris either.

Bron should have gone to Philly and teamed-up with these guys, but he has no interest in getting another ring, he wants to help his son make it in the NBA while getting Max money.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
Pistons starting 5 is actually pretty good with Harris there, but it begs the question, why are they going for it and trying to win games when the 2025 draft is on the horizon.

Some vet stability for Detroit.
