As little as I could get away with without offending or embarrassing him.

Parker makes 12.5 M for the next two years.
Rondo makes 12 and then 13M
Jose made 11M this year
J Holiday is signed at 11M for 3 years.

Westbrook is signed to crazy money until 2016 ending up at 17.8M I hope we don't go there.
D Williams is signed to really crazy money ending in 2016 at 22M. Really don't want to go there.
D Rose is signed for crazy money ending in 2016 at 21M
CP is at 18M but....

Who are you, the Baghdad Bob of the Wizards' front office?

I like how you characterize all the bigger contracts as "crazy money" and all of the smaller contracts as if they're normal. Why would you not characterize the smaller contracts as "bargain contracts"?

In all honesty, Parker is significantly underpaid and easily deserves a max contract. Rose and Paul's contracts are fair assuming they stay healthy. DWilliams and Calderon are overpaid. Rondo and Holiday are fairly paid.

Wall is better than Rondo and Holiday, or it's reasonable to project that he will be if the last 30 games of this season are any indication. With that the case, a max contract is fair.

Wall will get the full 5 year max.

Hopefully next season he has developed a semi-reliant 3 point shot, if he does i expect him to put up huge numbers. Also i hope he improves his athleticism by working out a little more, i remember watching his High school videos and he seemed much more explosive especially of 2 feet.

what are do you expect from wall next season?

I don't think he needs the 3-pointer. As long as he's hitting that midrange pull-up from 18 feet, he's pretty much unguardable.

It would be nice if he could develop the corner 3 just so we could try and run some offense sets through Beal or our backup PG and still have Wall on the floor without ruining the spacing. (Wall actually shot 45% from the corner this year, but in only 11 total attempts.)

Wall hasn't lost any athleticism. He didn't look as athletic early in the season because he wasn't in-shape coming off the injury. Later on, he regained his burst and was throwing down some pretty nasty dunks.

Basically every player will look less athletic when they get to the NBA-not because they've lost athleticism, but because the level of athleticism around them has increased.

The future is looking really bright for this team. Wall has really impressed me with his growing maturity this year.

Wall and Beal. Just keep telling yourselves that. Wall and Beal. They are both Wizards. Age 22 and 19 :D

People. We actually have a legit future. That is hard to get my head around sometimes. Having those two is the man thing. They no long have to go fishing for a core. They can even absorb making a few mistakes. And they can now attract better talent.

Great interview.

Still talking about a stretch 4 and a scoring guard off the bench.

Sounds like he still supported Randy.

Looking to add a 3 ball and keep working on that J. Going to work out with Beal over the summer.

Great stuff. We can now start to dream of plans for making a way to being a contender in 2-3 years.

I'm really excited about next season. John seems to know exactly what the team needs and what he needs to do to develop into an all-star. I hope that our starters can remain healthy for a good stretch of the season.

I like that Wall isn't always trying to dunk on people. All that flying around is going to get him hurt. I'd like to see him continue to improve that floater. It'll prolong his career.

He specifically mentioned the 3 and a floater in the his exit interview.

He is also supposed to work on a post game and defense with the glove.

Sounds like a full offseason for Wall.

Beal says he will going to work on making his ankles strong and better handles.
Nene is going to focus on getting his body right.

Wonder what Ves is working on. Making FTs ?

My first crack at generating similarity scores is up at the blog. First entry is about Beal and Wall.

Wall's comps are...interesting. A lot of Tony Parker and a couple of Russell Westbrook's seasons show up. Also making an appearance: a 28-year old Sam Cassell.

Note from today's Wall article on Mike Lee's blog:

If a third Synvisc shot hadn’t taken in his left knee, Wall would’ve needed to have a surgical procedure that would’ve cost him the entire year. He couldn’t hide his frustrations while sitting out the season’s first 33 games, but Wittman made sure that he stayed around the team and sat next to the coaching staff to offer encouragement and advice to his teammates.

I will admit to being officially worried about signing another point guard with knee issues to a max contract. I don't see how the team /doesn't/ do it, but it still worries me.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Thanks Nivek! Really encouraging stuff here, I like how Beal's top comparable is Ray Allen in his rookie year. If we manage to have the equivalent of peak Westbrook and peak Ray Allen playing together in 2-3 years, it'll be pretty fun to watch. If we only had a competent GM, then we could look forward to 10 years of relevancy.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Thanks gesa. If I get time to write today, I'm going to post another "similarity scores" piece -- this one about Vesely, Seraphin and Singleton.

I have a feeling this piece may be a little less optimistic.

Yeah, the headline is going to include the words "epic" and "fail."

His AMA has been postponed.

Probably because of the Jason Collins thing. He doesn't want all the question to be about gay guys in the NBA and what it's like to have a gay guy in the locker room and stuff like that.
