I don't know how any of you can blame Brooks for not playing a guy shooting less than 37% from the field this season. This team is trying to win and that sort of liability does not help. It's no surprise that this team has started winning since Bryant went down & Brown Bonga, Ish and Robinson hit the bench

Actually, that's not when they "started winning."

Nor is there, nor should there be, some kind of either/or between Mathews & Brown.

Do tell, how do you have the slightest idea who is going to be in the league longer between those 2 guys?

Mathews plays 16 minutes a game. That's hardly blocking TBJ - especially considering he can play 3 positions.

My thinking is that we would be gambling that Bagley figures things out and starts to live up to his draft pedigree. Sometimes, big men just take a while for things to click.

But then I went back through the draft and looked for big men who were drafted high and disappointed in their first 3 years and then put it together afterwards. The only one I could find is Julius Randle. Just about everyone else who disappointed early remained disappointing: Biyombo, Kanter, Monroe, D.Williams, Vesely, T.Robinson, A.Bennett, Jabari, Okafor, WCS, Marquese Chris, the list is long.

So, nevermind. I officially rescind my approval of the trade. Bagley is a bust and is almost certain to remain a bust.

I think you had it right the first time. He had the natural talent to be selected high in a draft and continues to put up 20/10 per 36 in limited minutes

If Bagley were drafted by the Wizards, this boards opinion would likely be similar to Kings fans. He’s helping the tank this year and next, but has a world of natural talent that if he puts it together he’s going to be a serious player

The chances of that happening might be the minority, but as a rebuilding team what better would you spend 11 mil next year on? Needless free agency role players, lol

You also had it right that if this question were posed to kings fans in a kings fan forum, they would like a first.

Sorry, not terribly interesting. No one is giving a first for Bagley. Or anyway, we sure aren't (I hope :) )!

OTOH, congratulations on scoring Tyrese Haliburton in the draft. Looks like you got the best peach on the tree! It's a shame you didn't keep that #35 pick & come home with Xavier Tillman as well. We loved him on this Board.

Still, Monte McNair's first draft was a good one for you -- a good start to his career as your GM.

Woodard looked decent in G League, so I still think the Tillman trade is in play (Woodard and future 2nd) :)

Who should he be playing over? Avdija (the #9 pick)? Bertans? Neto?

Teams typically don't run 10 man rotations.

Because one guy has figured out how to fit in as a role player in this league and the other guy is ball dominant wing wannabe PG who can't shoot

Woodard is a talented kid. But Tillman has been one of the best rookies so far. Not to mention that he's playing 20 minutes a game. Woodard has played 17 minutes total! :) Now... we don't know who you'll get with the pick Memphis owes you, but he'll have to be awfully good to match Tillman.

As I wrote before... we loved Tillman on this board. & for very good reason.

But, I think Ramsey was a good get for you at #43. Not a sure thing, but a lot of talent & very young! McNair is off to a good start!

I'm a big fan of Mathews -- & I was before you knew he existed. But these guys aren't the faces of a coin, so that only one of them can win. They are not even in competition with one another.

Still, you may turn out to be right -- & that would be like flipping a coin. Just your guess based on nothing. We'll see; we can revisit the issue when these guys are further along.

Wow, I just noticed you've been on this board since 2004! Good for you. I guess we can conclude that you're not a teenager, right? Despite the inverse relationship between knowledge of a subject & certainty about it. But, hey, you're not alone in that! :)

Certainly over Neto who doesn't fit in the team's future at al, is very limited physically, and is no more point guard than TBJ.

There are plenty of minutes available for Troy Brown. But at a certain point this becomes a senseless discussion.

likwitdesi "knows" that Troy Brown shouldn't play, because he "knows" that Troy Brown is a bad player. How he "knows" these things is anyone's guess, but obviously it can't be based on Troy's play last year.

In any case, stupid move though it would seem to be, it looks like Troy Brown will soon be an ex-Wizard. In which case once again we will have honored the time-tested Ernie Grunfeld tradition of wasting draft picks.

Would there be interest in Robin Lopez? Some teams with championship aspirations are having depth issues in the front-court.

I doubt it. Maybe a team that is worried about facing Philly or the big Lakers front line might want him, but they're not going to give up much more than a late pick in the 50's, which are essentially worthless.

Neto is the guy we should be shopping hard. He is playing very well and has to be turning some heads; he is ultra cheap and can easily be absorbed by teams who are facing hard cap issues; and his removal would open an opportunity for Troy Brown to get into the regular rotation. It's senseless to squander a promising 21-year-old asset like this

Well depends on what we get for him.

"Thunder trade Hamidou Diallo to Pistons for Svi Mykhailiuk"
That's a pretty interesting trade imo w
Two decent young players for each other.

Neto, I can't imagine he has any real trade value. He's not a shooter or a distributor against decent competition, and he can't defend anyone. What he does do well on D is double-teaming - where he can sneak behind the hall-handler and knock the ball away, but that doesn't make for his inability to cover 1 on 1.

I think he has been a pretty good 1 on 1 defender.

Absolutely, nate -- & great that you brought it up! Not only would trading him open up minutes for Troy, but he should bring something of value from a team where his immediate help can make a difference to their season.

In fact, you'd think that from the right trading partner, he might bring just as much as Troy would. It seems obvious that post-trade I'd rather have Troy Brown at 21 & in his 3d year than an expiring Raul Neto.

On top of that, trading Neto would turn Tommy's bad decision to add veterans this year into an accidental win for him! Unfortunately, I think we have pretty clearly returned to the short term focus that has been so utterly unsuccessful for so many years! :(
