Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
Well, so much for Kuzma to Sacramento. It looks like Kuz isn't going to get traded anytime soon. And it's looking like that price of 2 FRP's is unlikely to be met by anyone. Why pay two FRP's for Kuz when you can acquire a guy like DeRozan for two SRP's?
Chicago also paid a pick swap to dump Barnes onto San Antonio. Smart use of cap space by San Antonio.
Chicago is all in on the tank. They've just unloaded Caruso and DeRozan, their two best players, and all they have to show for it is Giddey and two SRP's

I read their hunt for Kuz is still on. Technically they could still do it.nate33 wrote:

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
Assuming relative health and that he uses the PO on year 4 to get out and re-up at the future max, it's more like giving up $40-50M over 3 years (someone please fix my math if I'm off). Still nothing to sneeze at, good for the Knicks.
Next we'll see what guys like Bridges and Divincenzo do when it's time for them to extend. Do they follow suit? Or break the bank and put NY back into apron territory anyway lol.

What a contrast to the way Beal treated his team, F Brad and his agent.

When I first heard the news, I texted my friend that he's the anti Bradley Beal.
Although upon further review, he may be timing his free agency when he becomes a 10 year veteran like Beal to secure a sizeable bag.
But I also imagine he will take a large paycut then as well.

Marc Stein in his substack suggests that Bridges is willing to take a paycut to re-sign. Bridges already agreed to an under market value contract with the Suns even at the time and could do the same with the Knicks.

I don't imagine he is going to lose much in the long haul. He is going to be King of New York. Ad campaigns. Endorsement deals. Appearance fees. His agent will be batting away the offers. I don't expect he cares about that sort of thing all that much. But if he wins a championship for them along the way he will never ever have to pay a dime for dinner in that city. Hell, the whole area. Crowds will part like Moses. Babies from Red Hook to Montauk will leave the hospital with the first name "Brunson" on their birth certificate.

We can all agree that we hope Beal orders the cable guy for a 2-4 pm window and the dude doesn't show up till 6:15.

Just a small miscalculation from his agent or him. Nothing major...

I remember Dennis Schroeder did the same thing a few years back. Lakers offered him 80 mil I think and he had to settle for pocket lint and a couple of paper clips.

Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

I remember something similar happening to Nerlens Noel, and now Rich Paul strikes again with Gary Trent.

Westbrook gonna be fighting Jokic for rebounds and triple dubs. Must see Amazon Prime.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
The Philadelphia 76ers and Guerschon Yabusele have agreed to a one-year contract for the veteran minimum, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Shams Charania of The Athletic first reported that Yabusele and the Sixers were in serious talks on a contract.
Philadelphia can cover up to $850,000 of that buyout this season. The 76ers can offer Yabusele only a veteran minimum contract for this season of approximately $2.1 million.
Great for the 76ers, and Yabusele, he has a good shot at earning a nice bump on his next contract.

I like this KAT trade for Minnesota. I think it makes them a more versatile, tougher team. Randle and DiVincenzo — that’s hard-nosedness, shooting, scrap.
Just makes me wish all the more we had shelled out for homeboy x 2 (Baltimore native and Wizards FO alum) Tim Connelly when the opportunity was there.

We can no-longer say Woj Bomb, feels weird.
Good move by Minny unloading the bloat of Kat, and the bloat of his contract, now they can make Gobert work, still a bit of a head-scratcher still to me.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
NY is going to have a pretty interesting starting lineup:
PG Brunson
SG Hart
SF Bridges
PF Anunoby
C KAT
KAT isn't a great rim protector, but with so much defense and rebounding at the wing, the defense should still be pretty good. Offensively, they're going to be great as long as those wings can hit 3's. Mitchell Robinson comes back in January which allows them to go with a jumbo lineup if they want. There's a significant drop-off when get further down the bench with Miles McBride, Jericho Sims, Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet. Tyler Kolek and Pacome Dadiet are rookies who probably won't play under Thibs.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 8
I know I'm slightly obsessed with trynig to get our protected pick back, but we should try to hijack the Charlotte part of the NYK-MIN deal. We should be happy to take the sign-and-trade salary (DaQuan Jeffries) and whatever else they need to add in to make the salaries match. We have enough room under the first apron and trade exceptions to make it work. The only issue is roster size - I think we are at 15 already, so we would have to cut at least one player or make another (2 for 1) trade.

"It takes talent, strategy and millions of dollars to compete in the N.B.A. But regret is the league’s greatest currency." - Howard Beck
