It’s worse than that. Given that they have created a 100 mile border zone where ICE can act free of constitutional restraint. And funded them as though they were a full branch of the military. It allows them to effectively seize control of democratically controlled states and act with impunity. Without the messiness of principled career military folk refusing unlawful orders etc.

Along with tanking the economy so the only jobs the folk can n the middle of the country will be able to get is by signing up for trumps personal army.

And controlling highways under the guise of literacy checks. Arkansas had already begun stopping trucks and arresting drivers if they can’t pass on the spot literacy checks and immediately pay the fine if they fail.

They’ve started the civil war. Now they’re just funding its implementation.

BTW, even though the number of billionaires has
markedly increased in this century, it still meets any
reasonable person's definition of a small number of
people in a country of 360 million.

And they are certainly not in any need of help from the govt.

Seen on BS, if gutting/cutting Medicaid was such a great idea
they wouldn't wait until after the midterms to do it.
And they'd campaign on it.

Well everyone (almost) hates Musk. Losing that
endorsement wouldn't be fatal. Rogan is a different
story and a much more damaging one.

It would not surprise me if the ultimate effect of the Big Ugly Bill is a political anchor on the Republicans, especially in Purple States, but somehow Trump doesn't lose much popularity from it.

In addition to being bad for most Americans, I think the bill will be especially bad for Republicans at the local level. If the cuts are not reversed, there could also be an opportunity for blue states to tax the extremely wealthy and cover the gap of what the federal government is not providing. There might be a few multi-millionaires who loudly move to FL or TX, but I think the potentially tax rates would not be enough to make that happen at scale.

I think Musk's third party could go one of two ways. It is likely it is a whole lot of talk and does not amount to much. However if he does actually put effort into it, I expect it to very bad for Republicans. The only path to significant vote share would be to attack Republican candidates and to do it on their home/friendly turf. Musk may have horrible judgement, but he is smart. The other requirement he would recognize for a 3rd party is to make a showing down ballot. He has the funds that he could jump into Congressional races and not have to build up grassroots at the state and local level.

I've seen musings from several people for Big
Beautiful Bill to be the name of the future cellmate
of a famous person.

MediCAID and food stamps. Not heartless or irrational to have more checks to ensure those getting said benefits are only those truly in need. Able bodied individuals should in fact work and pay their own way.

Newsflash, there are three countries in the entire world that tax based on citizenship not residency.

I'll let you figure out what the third one is after Eritrea and the Phillipines.

Who could possibly argue with that? The answer is
actually no one. In fact, there have been
previous cases in states (I believe FL in fact)
where the GOP was so sure there was rampant fraud
being committed that they put in more stringent
checks because they were certain people were
cheating, actually I think the accusation was there
was rampant drug use among recipients. They ended
up spending considerably more money on certifying
the recipients were clean than they saved on
denying benefits to dopers. These claims are racist
tropes which whiter wealthier voters buy up lock
stock and barrel. I think the news they watch has
a lot to do with how sure these people are about
these things. It would cause a massive reevaluation
of their entire world view if they were somehow
forced to learn and accept the truth. And it would be
terribly painful for them to learn this.

Short version - there ain't that much money to be
saved compared to the cost of actually finding the people
and rooting them out.

1) the cuts are changing the definition of who is "truly in need" so that fewer people meet the threshold, but doesn't change the fact that people who are denied are still in need.

2) wage depression has made it so that able bodied individuals who work are not able to pay their own way, especially for health care

3) even if there are able bodied individuals who can work but don't, their kids still need health care and can't pay their own way

i feel like this has been explained to you a thousand different times in a thousand different ways but you're incapable of engaging with the material.
