This offseason was fine. It's played out for us exactly the way it should have. The only things that really sucked were not being able to make a credible offer for Paul George when he suddenly became available and losing Bojan and thus wasting our first round pick.

Last offseason is the one that **** us over. Mahinmi + Nicholson was a total mess, and not working an extension out with Porter back in October means he probably got himself about 8-9 million more per season plus a friggin player option.

Well of course, and the negative Nancy's and Debbie Downers around here won't let us forget how bad a GM Grunfeld is in every f-ing post. Yes he's bad but the team isn't. One more creative move would put us in the ECF, if EG has it in him (he probably doesn't). Either way, we'll still be fun to watch and it beats checking out 35 of the last 40 years of mediocre to horrendous Bullets/Zards basketball.

John is still a bargain for 2 more years.

To quote Lebron...all superstars are underpaid...because of the revenue they generate for the franchises. that includes JW and BB...and hell depending how he performs even OP could be underpaid.

Refreshing to see loyalty to the team, and do it the hard/right way. Shame because Wall deserves better than Ernie and Ted.

Read on Twitter

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Do you really think Wall has LBJ/Curry like impact? Love what he has done for the franchise but I'd say he is a fringe superstar to be honest. He can incrementally improve, and should cause if he is going to be giving him 40 mil a year... we will need a bit more from him at some point. I am optimistic he can add a superior post game among other aspects to his game.

As far as bring brand value.. sure... I'm glad he is back, I am just hoping he improves some more or we actually add some good cheap talent to the roster... given who is GMin, I'm gonna have to bank on internal improvement from Wall

To me it was pretty likely he would sign the deal. A guy like Wall whose main source of income is his NBA paycheck (unlike say Lebron) wouldn't pass up the chance for a super max deal. In the event he isn't happy with the Wizards and doesn't want to stay here long term, he just signs the deal and then demands a trade down the line. There were just too many real dollarlydoos on the line to mess around.

I can't see how you create a competitive team, given the cap, if you have 3 guys earning @$95m combined. These new super-salaries are going to squeeze salaries for other players; they have to -- unless the cap takes a big jump, which seems not to be in view.

I'm puzzled by this whole phenomenon -- nothing to do with John Wall.

There's a player option for 2022-2023 too.

I think it should eventually lead to more parity, the good players get paid but on other teams if they want it. Nobody is mad really at wall for working the system. Gotta get yours while yah can!

I learned a long time ago not to count other peoples money and that includes JW. Do I think JW is LBJ or Curry...or could have thier impact? At the same time I dont think Curry is Anywhere near LBJ. Curry the second best player on his team? I could go into all of the deficiencies or Currys game to deflect from the problems in JWs game. I could present straw man after straw man or appeal to authories...or employ other tools to start or win a debate about the validity of JWs contract. But honestly WHY BOTHER? JW is a max player..but so are Beal and Otto. So is Andrew Wiggins and Paul George and Gordon Hayward...etc etc.

This is the current NBA....if you are one of the best 50 guys in the league you get maxed. (Is Otto top 50?). If you don't MAX your player someone else will. Even if you MAX your player if he isn't elidble for a super MAX he might leave. Even if he is elidble for super max he might leave...it is CRAZY. I say all that to say, I dont want Wall (or Otto) to go into the season trying to prove they worth thier money. I want them to work on thier games, be committed to thier health (stay off the weeeeddd and motorcycles), Eat right, be coachable, care about winning and demand excellence from each other on all of these fronts. Be a better leader and apologize to Otto in some fashion cause thats what a leader would do if he wants Otto to follow him. Plus i want them to remember game 6 AND game 7 of the boston series. The high highs and the low lows will fuel them through a season where they have NO CHANCE AT WINNING A RING. They have to stay ahead of philly and try to catch boston so that when Cleveland implodes we are ready to seize the EC title.

My point...everyone that got a contract on the Wiz earned thier contract. Now that the ink has dried I hope they going about the business of being together as a team for the next couple of years and usher us into a golden age of consistent good NBA basketball. We have not had that in my life time. We have had flashes with Agent Zero and the boys...but we better than that now and they teams core is signed for the foreseeable future. I'm not looking back bro!

So, what if John suffers a debilitating injury, God forbid, like Gilbert Arenas did?

Also, what if some human mistake happens, like a DUI, on John's part?

To me not much about life makes sense.

It could be that there are more Lonzo Ball or Markelle Fultz-caliber PGs coming. You might want one of them on a rookie deal.

Whatever.

Wall is a great player. The marketplace says this is earned. Me? I wonder about anything being as it should be in 2019-2020, and I question the wisdom of paying for anything two years in advance.
