Lewis might need season-ending surgery
By Michael Lee

Rashard Lewis said on Thursday that he might have to have season-ending surgery to repair the problems in his right knee and that a decision to shut down his season could be made later in the day. Lewis spoke with his agent, Tony Dutt, who was expected to reach a decision after discussing options with Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld and the team's medical and training staff.

"I'm in conversations with my agent and with the staff now of deciding if we're going to get the scope done or not," he said. "We either going to get it done this week or we going to grind it out and wait until the season is over with. I'll know in a couple hours."

This sucks, but there are big benefits. More ping pong balls and more PT for our forwards. I'll be glad to see Booker and Seraphin take Lewis' PT.

I wont be mad at not having to watch another 3 clank off the rim from that ugly jump shot this year. My eyes need some time off.

Not upset in the slightest, it was obvious that Lewis was not playing-well, the flipside is that we will see more of Mo Evans who is Flips new toy.

I fully support Lewis shutting it down now. Let him get his surgery so he can start his rehab sooner and be ready to go next year. A healthy Rashard Lewis is a legit, starting-caliber player. Right now, we only have two such players (Wall and Young), it would be nice to have a 3rd.

Caron Butler: Injured
Arenas: Washed up
Lewis: Injured for year
Howard: Injured and soon to shut it down for the year

Ironic how those trades worked out. Orlando got better because Ryan Anderson stepped up, not Arenas........and Beaubois inserted into starting lineup because Butler and Stevenson are injured and/or useless.

Meanwhile, we're significantly worse.

None of these teams are winning anything significant with the additions/subtractions. What I am happy about is that Gilbert Arenas, the player and contract, are GONE.

That is BS. Comparing when to when. Pre team blow up last season vs post team blow up? The wizards were a luxury tax lottery team with only Nick Young, Blatche and McGee as building blocks prior to the blow up. Post blow up the Wizards are non luxury tax team with Young, Blatche, McGee, Wall, Booker, Seraphin, Crawford, and an Atlanta first round draft pick as building blocks.

Pre Arenas trade versus post arenas trade? The Wizards were 6-18 prior to that trade and are 9-27. That is an identical 25% winning percentage.

The fact is the Wizards are in a better position post the team blow up, and without Arenas, and the only reason you refuse to see that is because you are such a huge Arenas fan that you can't envision the Wizards being better off without him.

Actually my comment had nothing to do with it, I'm the first to admit now getting rid of him was a good move if his performance in Orlando is any indication. He's done......I get it.

My only point is we traded two supposedly healthy players, who became injured or might as well be injured for two guys in just as bad of shape.

NONE of the players involved have done anything but make the teams find other options.

Uh, not to rain on the parade on those who legitimately want Gilbert Arenas to fail and play horribly simply so they can say it was a great trade for the Wiz, but Gilbert has looked much better the last 2 games since the All-Star break.

Infact, he hit two big 3s against Miami. One of them was an off the dribble fadeaway 3 that he shot effortlessly, shades of old Gilbert. Who knows what could happen heading into the playoffs.

I believe Gilbert will be better in the playoffs, even if he still isn't the same old Gil. He can't really be much worse lol.

I still don't understand how he hasn't at least been hitting 3s.

Its hard to imagine he won't start hitting them again at some point. He should still have some ball left. But even when he starts to do that, I will still be glad he is doing it some place else. I hope he does have some ball left in him for the fans sake.

But it wasnt this game. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310304019

But he was just not the right personality for a team that needs to get serious. He is better off in Orlando and we are better off with Lewis. He played well until the knee got to him. I just hope the survey goes well. Hopefully they take him to Johns Hopkins.

Gilbert had no opportunity to wave his hand in-front of his face, he missed every shot attempt last night.
