Warriors vs Wizards 7PM Tonight

Unless they win out, the Warriors (23-53) will record their worst finish since going 21-61 in 2001-02, but Nelson's chase to break Lenny Wilkens' league record for coaching victories has proved a pleasant distraction.

Nelson's players have responded with their best run of the season, going 4-2 since March 23. Golden State has won two of three on the road after losing 30 of its first 34.

The Wizards (23-53) also have labored through a difficult season, and the past month has included a franchise-record 16-game losing streak. Washington, however, has won two of three since that skid and is coming off Sunday's 109-99 victory over New Jersey.

The Wizards won 118-109 at Golden State on Dec. 18, but all four Washington players who scored in double figures are no longer on the active roster.

I'm nervous. Pulling out the loss will be tough but I think we can do it.

The Warriors just beat the Craptors in Toronto. They can easily beat us at home to, since we suck at the VZ.

Flip Saunders needs to write this on the locker room chalk board:

Chances of a Top 4 pick:
3rd worst record: 68.5
4th worst record: 47.7
5th worst record: 29.2

Nate. Why oh why did you start this thread? If ever there were an opportunity for Ji to show his mettle, this would be it.

No-worries, GS has really been putting-up HUGE numbers, I am confident in a loss tonight.

If Dray can get the energy back for a full game then I think he can go off against GS tonight. I could see him having a triple double but my only fear is that he may try to shoot for it. I heard him after the game say that he’s going to start playing more like this, passing more, and making his teammates better which is definitely a great thing but I dont want him to just start over passing when he could probably get 40 on a team like GS. If the scoring is there then take it.

The one thing I hate about Dray & Gil is that they pre determine stuff too much. Gil is always talking about how he’s not going to shoot 3’s this year, he’s going to do this, he’s not going to do that, and so on. Dray is the same way and you can tell it effects there game as they turn down stuff they shouldnt or they overdo something they shouldnt. They both just need to play ball and take the game how it comes. Its not that complicated

right

it's not nearly as complicated as trying to figure out how to best appease
the ping-pong gods of chance and/or the hoops gods.

is it really better to hope for losses for what is only an increased chance
at a high pick (especially given our lotto history).

or would it be better long term to hope that some lights start to go
on for our young guys and that they gain confidence that have a
real chance to pay dividends in the near future.

summary - of course I want us to get the best possible pick.
But I also believe that good play by the youngsters could
also be a path to future success.

Win-win, lose-win. It's all good!

:)

I think given the make-up of the team is approach against the Nets was correct. He needs to look to get his teammates involved early. It helps Mike Miller to be more assertive. An assertive Miller and a passing Blatche opens things up for Livingston and Young or Martin.

I agree completely about Arenas. He's been around the league too long to be predetermining his offensive strategy. I've complained about this for years.

I'm less worried about Blatche. This is a throw-away season. I'm happy that Blatche is enthusiastic about passing and it'll only help him to work on that aspect of his game over the remainder of the season. It's hard to practice passing in game-time situations, he may as well take the opportunity now. He can work on his scoring in the offseason.

yeah no doubt. I love his passing and that he can get 13 assist seperates him from nearly any big man in the league but I just dont want him now start to every game look to pass non stop when he may have a wide open shot or is being guarded one on one by an inferior defender. I dont think its too big of a deal though because he still managed to get up 18 shots so he should be fine

You're too kind. Everyone in the world is anticipating Don Nelson's historic achievement. It just wouldn't be right to disappoint him.

It might be a cliche, but it has to be said:

If there was ever a must lose game, this is it.

On behalf of the Golden State Warriors, I pray that Blatche goes for a quadruple double, leading the Washington Wizards to victory. :D

Edited for Wizards' board appropriateness. :D
