Indy fan here. I like the trade you made for Hinrich/pick, because it's not as if the capspace was going to get you much on the market.

But Hinrich is probably not the guy you want to have there. You've got Wall and Arenas, and while Hinrich would certainly be a great 3rd guard off the bench, do you really want to be paying him this year and next to be a backup? Cheaper ones can be had all over the place.

So how do you feel about trading him? It's doubtful you'll get much for him - heck, Chicago had to include a first round pick just to get pure capspace.

Indy just drafted Paul George and Lance Stephenson, and already have Granger, Dunleavy, Rush, and Dahntay Jones, so we are vastly overloaded on the wings.

We need a PG.

Would you be interested in moving Hinrich straight up for Dunleavy? Dunleavy is an expiring, and is a shooting, ball-handling wing, which is a position you need more than a PG.

I actually think Dunleavy would fit well, as he can be very much an off-the-ball scorer for you, and works very well handling the ball and running the offense in a half-court set (which Wall may not be entirely ready to do yet)

We have a trade thread, which this will probably get merged into.

Any way that seems like a decent offer for Hinrich. I think there are 3 trade pieces that might appeal to the Wizards for Hinrich: TJ Ford, Dunleavy and Murphy. TJ Ford was the first one I though of, but that doesn't help the PG situation in Indy. Murphy would appeal to me the most, especially with Blatche's injury.

The Pacers aren't terribly deep at PF, so dealing Dunleavy makes the most sense and helps the Wizards in a position of need. Dunleavy does not shoot as accurately or rebound as well as Mike Miller, but he is a better scorer and similar in his assist numbers.

I think the Wizards intend to keep Hinrich while they try and trade Arenas. If Arenas can't get traded, they'll keep both on the roster for half the season. If Arenas still can't be moved by the Trade Deadline, then they might seriously consider trading Hinrich for expiring contracts. I don't know if Indy would still be interested in such a deal at the Trade Deadline. If they're not, my guess is that the LA Lakers would be interested.

I don't think the Wiz will have trouble dealing Hinrich for an expiring between now and the deadline if they want to. Indy would have to sweeten the deal beyond just Dunleavy for me to make a deal now. Perhaps a protected future first, or the rights to a pick swap, a half decent prospect, etc.

He's an expiring contract, who would play this season when the Wizards aren't expected to to do much. His play, quite frankly, is nearly irrelevant. He does play the 3. He does some things well. But shaving a year off Hinrich's deal would be the prime motivator to make the deal. So don't get your panties in a wad that Dunleavy's lane agility is poor or that his standing reach sucks or that his wingspan is below average.

but one could definitely argue Hinrich is exactly who we ("we" being the organization) DO want to have here. It seems EG had wanted him for a long time, not to mention its actually a pretty decent 3 man backcourt with Hiney backing up Wall and Gil.

I'd shrug my shoulders if we made that kind of swap. Not a fan of Dunleavy but Benjammin's right
