Knick fan here. We got 11mil cap room left, and I'm thinking we should offer a huge one year contract to either ridnour or livingston. I know the lockout is approaching, but a 10mil one year contract would be very appealing.
So my question is how good is livingston? Do you think he could play 30mins as a starting point guard in d'antoni's system? Watching his highlights it looks like he has gotten his athleticism back. I'm just worried about the fact that he doesn't have a jump shot.

With his injury history I doubt Livingston goes for a one year deal. I think 3 years/15 million would be more reasonable. They may even be able to get the last year as a team option if it is front-loaded. His lack of jump shot would be a concern in d'antoni's system. I think Livingston may be the better player, but I think Ridnour might be the better fit.
If you want to pay 10 million for a PG, the Wizards might trade Hinrich

If you're just talking about 1 year just to eat up minutes, Ridnour's the better choice. But if you want the better player, Livingston is the better choice.

Livingston is the best PG on the market. He was the best PG on the market even before Blake and Duhon got signed. That said, I'm not so sure if he's ideal to run D'Antoni's system. Livingston isn't really a pick-and-roll PG. His game reminds me more of Mark Jackson. He has great vision and good size to make good entry passes and find the backdoor cut, he likes to post up quite a bit, and he has a nice midrange pull-up jumper. Unfortunately, he doesn't break guys down off the dribble and he lacks 3-point range.

If you watch him play you think he deserves more than that. When you recall his injury history, you understand why that's a reasonable contract for him.
