President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

and the hookshot going out of style probably has to do with the amount of PRACTICE it requires at an advanced age. you can't practice the hookshot until you're fairly developed. no offense to your elementary school hook shot ruz, but it's not a real hook shot. you've got to darn near palm the ball to execute the skyhook. you might have been decent at slinging it, but that's going to get blocked by a weakside defender against any reasonable competition.

so, from the POV of a big man, you've got to be old enough to have man-hands, then put in countless hours in the gym to perfect an awkward motion, or you can just continue to shoot jumpers because you're used to that, or worse yet... not practice at all because you've been coasting by on sheer athleticism all these years. just dunk the ball and to hell with extra hours in the gym.

I don't know what this is about, but this is sooooo gay. Can't we just slap him on his ass and tell him to buck up?

BA doesn't need a hug. Change-nothing Barely, call-em like you see-em, it's only a message board.

You guys should rent a forum.

I like Barely's posts the way they are - keepin it real for the folks with rose-colored glasses (so I don't have to be the bad guy). :P

I think the last thirty years or so of the franchise keep it pretty real, but every off season I embrace my own personal blend of despondency (when will Arenas show up with a cane?) and delusion (motivated by his next contract, Blatche will become the closest thing to prime-Garnett in the current NBA). I like a board that features Barely Awake and Doc Linkin, a rainbow of anticipation. That's a group hug to me, or maybe a mosh pit.

I just find it hilarious in context that BA is so cranky this summer. Especially considering back when we landed the KFB, and even stubbornly for years into the KFB era dude was the staunchest stalwart in the belief that we were due for a championship; developing; on it's way if not a certitude. (Me too).

We were just a couple Euro guys away. He'd fight ya to death over the notion. All we needed was Ted Leonsis and boom! Champs. Polish that Larry O paperweight. (Me too).

Then last year he was the first to say we needed to tank to take John Wall.

But now: we got Ted. We got John Wall. And my boy is even more grouchy than ever.

Makes you think, even if we landed bionically rejuvenated Greg Oden or what not, dude would shout at the voices in his head while riding that Metrobus to and from treatment.

And if we actually won the trophy, he'd be setting up a gun nest in the eaves of Union station, picking off commuters with burst fire.

Tellin' you. Being a Wiz fan makes a fella crazy. Jumpy. The slightest glimmer of good luck makes it feel that much more certain that things might blow up and leave only smoking craters of hope wreckage and dream cinders. Waiting on that next bomb to fall.

But I understand. Plight of a Wiz fan. Fortune shakes your hand you're waiting on him to snatch you in an alley and try to harvest your kidneys. Lady luck smiles, but even flirtation is a risk to give you syphilis.

Or, if you find a shiny gift, you want to guard it like Smaegol, hoard it, not miss the chance on any others that might show up. Precious...

'LOOK people this only resembles good luck, do not be fooled, do not be satisfied! Do not go happily into the wedding party, listen first to my tale of woe and ill-omen! Do you not see this dead bird flavor-flav'd around my neck? How can you laugh at a time like this!'

Nah. It's okay old sailor. Look, the music has started, you can hear the bassoon... You want me to bring you out a sandwich?

Power of positive thinking. The journey has only started and we're closer than we ever were. It's okay, we'll get there. You shall have what you say. You said 'John Wall' viola [sic] John Wall. So just hop on board the happy train. Post smileys here to pad your post count. Never know. Might help.

I understand the frustration completely. I felt the death knell ring loudly in my head when Pollin backstabbed/fired Jordan. Deceiving the greatest player in NBA history after profiting greatly off him? I felt the bad karma envelop the Verizon center on that day.......I knew we were in for a very bad stretch.

Logical? Probably not but that's what it is to be a Wiz fan......some of the karma is well deserved, some of it created from the history of pathetic basketball our franchise has doled out for over 3 decades now (give or take 3 or 4 years).

The combo of Wall/Leonsis is such a breath of fresh air for the first time I feel no negative energy surrounding the franchise. Even if we don't win this year, we'll be following a true PROFESSIONALLY RUN squad/franchise for the first time EVER as Wizard fans. That along with the most dynamic player since LBJ drafted #1 to our squad? POSITIVITY! OPTIMISM!

Blatche/McGee? There is more than potential there, there is a history of improvement and praise from other NBA players/coaches/hall of famers. I remember the Terry Davis/Otis Thorpe/Randell Jackson frontcourt we marched out night after night in the late 90s. Damn right I'm optimistic.

We too have a little Sea monkey swimmin around in there. Though we're a few months farther down the line than you. More like a (beautiful) little alien marmoset. She's been kicking like Pele for the last month, which somehow means I don't get any sleep. Lucky me I get to be both a father and a grandfather this year. Life's crazy.

Agreed. I was right there with Barely before we lucked up and landed Wall. Trust me, if we ended up with Al-Farouq Aminu instead of John Wall, I'd say dumping Gil sooner than later & tanking would have to be the way to go. But I've thought all along that John Wall was a game changer. We badly needed a franchise player and through the grace of God we got one.
