I think everyone knew deep down that they would change the colors to red/white/blue next season. I guess I was hoping for something original like black/gold/white since so many times rock either red, blue, or both red and blue. I'm sure it'll be an upgrade though.

Alas the Wizards will shortly abandon their long support of House Ravenclaw, and may not be far from canceling their alliance with the Wu Tang Clan, and I shudder to think what might come of angering both the most clever house of Sorcerers and the M.E.T.H.O.D Man at the same time.
Change the name already.

They'll probably do the dark r/w/b colors, a la Team USA and the ATL Hawks, as opposed to the brigher version, used by the Sixers and the Clips. In any event, there are already 4 other teams in the EC alone (Nets, Sixers, Pistons and Hawks) that rock that scheme.
As long as the Wizards upgrade that horrible logo, I guess I'll be fine with it.

I'm actually kind of dreading this. I don't really see how you can do a r/w/b color scheme with the name Wizards and it actually look good. Hopefully it won't end up being something extra shiny.
Until they change the name, there's only so much they can do IMO.

I don't think that will happen, LR. I think don't see them pitching a uniform design that draws element from Wizards imagery outside of the logo itself. Most teams select a uniform design separate and distinct from the logo and team name - with notable exceptions including the Nets' net-like trim and the Wolves' tree design on the side panels.

Exactly. "Patriotic" and "Wizards" are not a congruent pairing theme-wise, so if we're going stars n' bars, we really should change the name first to pull it off properly.
Otherwise, we need to try and work in red-white-blue in a way that doesn't strongly suggest 'Merica. It could be done, but it's a delicate operation. Personally, I'd probably go with a dark red without any stars.
Seems to me this might well be a beachhead for a name change with us hoping that another red-white-blue team changes up in the next few years with us already having called dibsies on the star spangled palette.

I was wishing for black and gold, but this is the next best thing. I'm hoping that we go with a more navy blue than a lighter shade.
A name change would be nice, but I've long said I'd be happy with either or, so this is still a good day.

On the NBA site it says that all teams will have new uniforms.

That's this year - it refers to adidas' new "climacool" jerseys. The Wizards will be wearing a slim-fit v-neck version of their usual blue/gold/black jersey this year. The team won't unveil the new r/w/b jerseys until next year.

If you took the current god-awful logo and uniform design and just changed the colors to r/w/b it would be a drastic improvement. Have a little faith. I expect them to keep the name change but to de-emphasize Wizards in the uni -- more "DC" and "WASHINGTON" imagery. The challenge will be not looking exactly like the Hawks, but I'm confident they'll come up with something pretty tight.

Dear Mr. Wizards Basketball Leonsis,
I am a professional design maker and I heard on the internet today that you have decided to make your team colors American flag colored instead of European Union colors, and so I thought that maybe you also wanted to get rid of your weird European mascots but maybe you don't know what to do instead. So I wrote this message, I'm writing it but I'll be finished and then I'll have written it.
Yeah so I think that the Wizards are a really important team and they deserve the best mascots in the world. And frankly that Gonzo-looking **** you guys have right now seems to me to be pretty bad, all he does is shake it like a handshake with that palm scratch thing, creepily and unwelcomly. So I did my professional design maker research and saw that the Nationals, also a sports team in Washington, use the presidents as mascots. That was a really good idea I thought but just taking it would be stealing maybe so I thought you could make yours unique by dressing them up like Wizards, so people wouldn't see them on T.V. and change the channel to avoid watching baseball. Here is a list of some president/wizard combinations I thought of.
Abraham Lincoln/Jaffar (both are tall and have facial hair and are incredibly ugly.)
George Washington/Gandalf (G names so they could replace G-Man and both spent a lot of time helping really short people.)
Harry Truman/Harry Potter (It seems appropriate to dress Truman as the character he inspired.)
Ronald Reagan/Morgan Le Fay (Morgan is a manly name and Reagan was a manly president.)
Franklin Roosevelt/Astoroth (Two of the most important figures in WWII.)
John Adams/The Wizard of Oz (Neither was actually able to do magic.)
So yeah, give me the money whenever it's convenient. Thanks.

Has a chance to be really really bad. Havent seen it but cant be sure, but I dont like too complicated jerseys
it could end up looking a lot like the old sixers jerseys.

That now makes three of the four teams in DC with that color scheme.

WireTap says this won't happen until 2011-12, so they have plenty of time to screw this up.
