Why do most of our good ex-players go to the Cavs or mavs?

I was just thinking well Brendan Haywood, Caron Butler, and Jerry Stackhouse have gone to the Dallas Mavericks. Players like Antawn Jamison and Larry Hughes have ended up with the Cleveland Cavalears. Does the ownership have some personal relationship with these two teams? It seems like we deal a lot of our good players to them, or, could it be that these other teams have smarter GMs? What's your opinion?

Because they got tired of Detroit.

Maybe the boss of mavs is our boss's friend.

Well that group covers two trades and two free agent signings, I'm not sure one trade with a team suggests any kind of relationship. And I'm gonna guess it's not the "having smart" GMs thing.

Actually I would say the team with the weird connection would be the Twolves. The last 2 drafts the Wizards have traded with the Twolves. The Wizards being trade partners with the Mavs and Cavs made sense because the Wizards were a bad team and the trade partners were play-off teams. However it is a little weird for two teams in the cellar to be trading with each other.

A bad team's "good" players going to serious contenders, and still not getting them over the hump. I wonder if there's some rule of thumb to be derived from that?

The Magic and Phoenix have that too. Bo Outlaw, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Steven Hunter, and Hedo Turkoglu all from different era's. I'm sure each team has the same stories to tell.

It looks like the Wizards curse may have moved to Detroit:

I think both of those teams have made a lot of significant moves, so it is not too shocking that their rosters overlap. BTW Shaq also belongs on that list.

How about the bobcats?
Kwame Brown
Javaris Crittenton
Shuan Livingston
Dominic Mcguire
Larry Hughes (FA)
They were also interested in Jarvis Hayes in the trade talks between Denver/New Jersey =)
