Official Thread - Wizards at Pistons Preseason (10/19/10)

Post#1 » by pineappleheadindc » Tue Oct 19, 2010 1:51 am

.

YOUR Washington Wizards head on up to Toledo, Ohio and their final preseason game verus the Detroit Pistons. Following the game, the Wizards will be off until their regular season opening at Orlando on October 28th.

Expect G Gilbert Arenas to sit again for Washington, resting a strained right groin. With this the final opportunity for the Wizards to see potential end-of-benchers before the season starts, expect to see a lot of F Adam Morrison; F Cartier Martin, G Lester Hudson and C Hilton Armstrong. There's a good possibility that this may be an ugly game, irrespective on who "wins".

To reiterate - don't expect an (illegal) feed to watch. Because Detroit is not televising this game anywhere, there will be no video feed to actually stream. It'll be radio only, guys.

What: Washington Wizards vs Detroit Pistons
Where: Huntington Center - Toledo, OH
When: 7:00 pm EDT
Television: None
Radio: 106.7 The Fan (DC) or 97.1 The Ticket (Detroit)

Nick Young count down continues.

Feeling good about McGee showing us progress this year.
Wall is going to continue to amaze.
Those are the two extremes. I think I would keep most players in between except Ammo and Nick.

Hard to decide between Hudson and Martin. Personally I would rather have either or both over Nick.

Good thing this one doesn't have a stream. It seems like it will be a very boring game, no Gil. I just want next week to come.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a less interesting team that Detroit. Considering it's only preseason, I don't know that I'd watch even if it was on TV.

You have a personal vendetta against the guy. We get it.

Sadly it's clouding your judgment of him as well.

I think I would be right there in the same boat with you. This game is just pointless to play and Pistons even if they had all their starters playing, are just boring! Only one player I like from that team and that is Stuckey.

personal vendetta? i just think he hasn't shown much improvement from the player we saw for half of last season. i'm not calling to trade him, or even bench him.

Suppose it's start of the regular season. You've got a fantasy team and you need a C. One is available on the waiver wire. Here are his stats:

10 points, 7 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1 steal, .535 FG and get this ... he's only playing 20 minutes a game.

You think to yourself, when that guy plays 30 a night he's a guaranteed double double. He's a block monster. Might even has some potential as a scorer. 10 points in 20 minutes from a C is not bad.

If you look at Javale McGee this preseason, that's him. Mind you this guy's 22 years old, improving, and until very recently was still growing (and not the Big Gheorghe type growing, either).

McGee's problems are doing things like blocking out and holding position. I know he's not been good defensively and has frustrating habits. To me, the Wizards would be on top of things witth McGee paired with a bruiser of a player (like Cousins, or even the short guys Love and Blair).

Ultimately, I don't think Javale's a true C.

It will be interesting to see Detroit's Cs, Ben Wallace and even Greg Monroe, against Blatche and McGee.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Al Thornton defensive goaltending
Greg Monroe lost ball (Hilton Armstrong steals)
Hilton Armstrong makes free throw 1 of 2
Adam Morrison enters the game for Al Thornton
Adam Morrison makes layup (Andray Blatche assists)

If you're not excited about Wizards Basketball, I just don't know what to say.

Whoever is checking Stuckey has held him to 20 points in the first half with 3 mins left to go before halftime.

I'll just go ahead and blame Morrison. Nobody here can definitively refute that and it just feels right.

Why is Wall and the rest of the starters playing so many minutes. Makes no sense to me. Also with them playing so many minutes why is Stuckey torching us.

Wizards down by 10 with just over 4 mins left. Good news is that we're slowing Stuckey down relative to the first half. He only has 34 points in the game. Ammo must be claping down.

Since I can't watch it, I have no clue. But you certainly don't want your starters playing this much in preseason. It's ajoke. I don't care if our bench gets crushed, there's no reason why a veteran like Hinrich should be playing more than 20 minutes. I sense with Blatche, he's playing to get in shape. Wall will seriously hit one by December or January, with the way he plays.

Booker with 9 boards in 15 minutes. Not bad work there.

Seraphin's foul rate is 1 per 1.25 minutes so far.

Yi is laughing about how excited we got over his hot start.

+1 Shades of EJ. Stuckey and Villanueva also logged heavy minutes.
