The Amazingly Sucky Colin Cowherd

Moran alert - It's Cowherd again. Steinburg and the Sports Bog ain't having none of it.

(3) Time to rip on John Wall's dead father.

Cowherd wrote: Let me tell you something: I'm a big believer, then it comes to quarterbacks and point guards. Who's your dad? Who's your dad? Because I like confrontational players, I don't like passive aggressive. Strong families equal strong leaders. Talent? Overrated. Leadership? Underrated. And you can say, well, Colin, can you just go out and say anything crazy and get people to e-mail. That's not the point. You wouldn't e-mail if I was an idiot, because you wouldn't listen to the show. You listen to the show because we make good points.

"I simply have a different opinion than you do on John Wall. I like the character of Derek Fisher, the rebounding and distribution ability of Rajon Rondo, that's what I like. That's what I want from my point guards. You celebrate the assists more than the buckets.....I know he's great. So don't confuse [me saying] John Wall's no good. No, John Wall's an A+ talent. I don't think he's ever gonna be an A+ win-championships point guard
."

Later still, he sort of linked Wall with Michael Vick, for no particular reason.

Cowherd wrote: Vick are very similar. I"m not disputing their talent. I mean, Michael Vick and John Wall are fun to watch. But building my franchise around him, leadership position? I'm not giving Vick four-year deals, I'm not giving him $40 mil. No way. No. Way."

What an idiot.

This is exactly what CC wants. He wants people to talk about his ridiculous comments. This is what drive his show. We do nothing but encourage this junk by discussing it further.

How can one's personal business plan be:

"Develop my personal brand by maximizing exposure in the media and in the general population by repeatedly saying stupid things."

:-(

He's a calculating ass clown. He's not an idiot, because he knows how to get a reaction from taking idiotic positions. And he realizes that he doesn't have the talent to keep his job without using that tactic. His position there is so stupid - it's not even worth discussing.

How is it that people like Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan remain relevant forever? Their lives are just a ball of stupidity but they are all totally relevant because we probably give the general public more credit than they deserve. The market for mindless lemings is massive and CC caters to it perfectly. To be honest I doubt he believes much of what he says but it gets a rise and that's what he's after.

Cowherd's style reminds me of Jim Rome - extended "takes" meant to stir things up. He's definitely not stupid, but I don't necessarily agree that he doesn't believe what he says. He really comes across as a guy who thinks he knows something that everybody else doesn't. It's not like he's asking questions and is open to discussion. I think he has convinced himself that taking non-conformist positions is how he proves that he's smarter than the rest of us.

As for his Wall comments, this is the first I'm hearing of the "Who is your father?" angle. I'd only heard the part about how dancing for 30+ seconds means he won't ever win a title. (What's the threshold, Colin? 15 seconds?) And that whole rant may have even been more about him slurping Rajon Rondo than dissing Wall becuase he kept referring to Rondo as a HOF player. I don't think Colin even knew about Wall's father. He was just coming up with stuff to support his non-conformist idea. I'd expect him to make an apology as soon as somebody brings it to his attention.

I heard Colin Cow-Turd rant about Wall, he has a woody for Rondo and it made me think about some of my past sucky sales managers. Guys that would use the rear view mirror method for a quota next year. Well you sold 5 million lets add 20% to that next year as you can see not a lot of Due diligence goes into that type of methodology.

Cow-Turd just lookning at the past and boasting about what will come down the road. You know he might be like this dumb ass superhero.

Since I have no idea how this guy is and cannot watch American TV, I will instead comment about how ridiculous other people are: the miami announcers. These guys really need a cock-punching, and I think Wes-Tiny, our very own Yuppie hunter, would be the guy for the job. I'll take out Walt Frazier of the knicks myself...

Really makes me appreciate the averageness of Buckhantz and the awesomeness of Phil "So Harvard's like the UC Berkeley of the East Coast?" Chenier.

Mike DeCourcy of The Sporting News takes down Sucky Colin Cowherd's rant about John Wall.

Link

He's glib, that Cowherd. He is not smart, but he is glib.

How do we know he is not smart?

Because a smart guy would not say the sort of things about Wall and Derrick Rose that Cowherd has turned into what seems to be a daily routine of late. A smart guy would not start with an indefensible premise -- that Wall is "selfish" -- and then concoct ever more absurd scenarios and rationales with which to defend it.

Cowherd began this conflagration with a statement last week that Wall is "not a sharp guy" and "an idiot." Wall was compared to a bank robber and, perhaps worse, Stephon Marbury.

"Before the game started, he spent 34 seconds doing the Dougie," the Cowherd declared. "That tells me all I need to know about J-Wow. Then he opened his mouth later and confirmed it: not a sharp guy. All about him."

If you've watched the original (British) version of The Office, he's basically the equivalent of Ricky Gervais' character doing sports talk radio.

Funny thing is, Colin had no problem with LeBron's dancing. Before or even during games. He loved it when LeBron did it and he's a huge LeBron fan. Maybe Colin just doesn't like the "dougie" specifically or maybe he has some personal reason for not liking Wall. I can't really explain it.

Cowherd is basically an internet troll with his own radio show. Take any run of the mill message board troll and give him a radio show, that's Cowherd in a nutshell. He even admits he gets off on people being upset with him, so threads like this just fuel the fire.
