Before the game, I'd predicted a 10-point Wizards win. This is better. Without further delay, here are you nominees.
G Nick Young25 points (10-26 fg, 3-9 3pts, 2-2 ft); 9 boards, 3 dimes, 3 steals, 1 turn, +9 in 43 minutes
F Andray Blatche22 points (9-23 fg, 4-6 ft); 11 boards; 4 dimes; 1 steal, 1 turn, 2 blocks, +15 in 39 minutes
G John Wall10 points (4-12 fg, 1-1 3pts, 1-1 fg); 7 boards, 12 dimes, 1 steal, 2 turns, +9 in 35 minutes
C JaVale McGee16 points (4-7 fg, 8-10 ft); 10 boards, 4 blocks, +11 in 22 minutes
G/F Cartier Martin11 points (4-6 fg, 3-3 3pts); 3 boards, 1 steal, +8 in 13 minutes
Also nominated:
Randy WhitmanActing Head Coach
zaRdsAndZeRosThread Starter
And you can also vote for TEAM - e.g. a team win.
Or nominate another to be YOUR player of the game.
Go Wiz!

I voted for John Wall. He looks really gimpy right now and it is screwing up his shot, but I love those 12 dimes and the way he ran the team tonight.

Had to go with the team - no one guy played well enough to deserve it over the others, and I love that they're playing with more of a team concept on both sides of the ball. Team seems appropriate tonight.

1. Young - didn't just score but stuffed the whole stat sheet
2. McGee - put Hibbert in foul trouble and completely took him out of the game
3. Martin - came in cold and lit it up from deep

1. Wall - 12 assists (would have been about 20 if guys hit jumpers), 2 turnovers
2. Blatche - Forget the offense. His defense and board work were excellent.
3. Martin - We really needed someone to get hot. Martin delivered and put Indy away.
Honorable mention to McGee. If he played a few more minutes, he would have been in the conversation too.

I'm going thru the game thread, reading all of the real hate for Andray and his shot.
John Wall 4-12 fg. *Crickets*
It's amazing that supposed fans of this team hate individual players within it so much. (Ditto the expressions of happiness that Hinrich was injured).
The Wiz didn't win b/c Flip was absent. They didn't win because Hinrich got hurt. They thoroughly outplayed the Pacers. The only thing that kept the game close was the LOTS OF WIZARDS weren't hitting their shots. In Blatche's case, completely wide open shots near the top of the key - shots that he hits regularly when not under duress.
By the way, you know who shot WORSE than Andray Blatche? Nick Young.
Anyway, I voted team win. Team defense won this game.

I can think of good arguments for five different players being in the top three, so I voted for the whole team as well. Last year's starting lineup is gone. With Arenas gone, the current team is freed a bit more from the shadow of the old team, and they seem like they're playing more as a team. I wouldn't mind seeing the "team" option some more, and I hope their play justifies it.

Nick .. Hands down.
This kid is showing some amazing stuff this year. And the scary thing is, I don't even think he has show us his best.
Just wait till he get really hot one night. He can drop 40 if he attacks the basket more and has a hot shooting night.
Nick has the tools to be a star if he keep improving his mind and his game.
This team has talent and should only get better as they gel and get some win so they have confidence.

Went with Wall. Didn't watch the game, but read through the game thread.
It sounds like Young is deserving of it because of the 9 boards, but imo he should be getting 5 or so a game at his size.
What got me for Wall was the 6-1 asst. to turnover ratio.

Ron Artest's Atari rant for player of the game!
"I was really proud of JaVale," said Wizards assistant coach Randy Wittman, who was filling in for Flip Saunders while he attended to a family emergency. "He came in tonight and played Hibbert as good as we've seen leading up to this game and watching tape on him."
"I was watching film on him," McGee said. "So I was definitely just seeing what he does in the post, and I was trying to front him every time so he really didn't have a lot of touches in the post. That was the game plan, just stop Hibbert and go out there and try to work as hard as we can on defense, and that's what we did."
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/wizard ... bbert.htmlIf Javale really starts going this route, it's the position of the Zardos will be well bolstered. You would say 'talk the talk' and all that, but the proof is in the pounding.
Also it seems like the suspensions have been productive, not necessarily from the film aspect (likely unrelated), but that was about as nice of an effort out of both Javale and Dray in tandem as we've had all year. Seems a stretch to be a coincidence.
All that said, I voted for Wall as the Potentate of the date. Gotta love spreading it around at at full speed.

1. Nick Young (I mean, 9 rebounds... outta HIM...??? He should win the the next PotG too because of this...)
2. McGee, best game ever... Not only the stats, but he also took Hibbert outta the game... When you do that, you pretty much beat the Pacers...
3. John Wall, love the way he plays, another double double in the books...
HM: Neck, played a very well game in limited minutes...
Sucker of the Game: Martin... Everybody is raving about how well he knocked down those 3's, but twice he gave up a 3 right after them on the defensive side... 1 time even with for 4 point play...

Hey, I absolutely promise to bring up Wall's crappy shooting...when he's in his 6th year in the league. But I agree that joy over injury isn't cool (except maybe for Yi, who I'm still surprised was that bad).

I was at the game. Gotta go with:
Nick Young
John Wall
Tie w/ Blatche & McGee for 3rd.

Martin.
Our own mailman...The guy steadily delivers.
He needs to be a regular part of the rotation. Much rather have him at the two then Kirby.

1. Young- His shot was a bit off in stretches, but he still was our go to scorer, our best perimeter defender and had a nice line.
2. Blatche- Brought it on the defensive end and on the boards, oh yeah, he chipped in 22 points as well. Also had some good passes in the fourth.
3. Wall- did a little of everything, most importantly he seems to be understanding that he doesn't need to be a rocket on every play. 12 assist of the bench is nice.
HM: McGee- Had he not been limited by back problems he probably would have been player of the game. 16 points 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in impressive in only 22 minutes.
Martin- Good to see him play well, in meaningful minutes, after not playing the last three games.

1 Nick Young --> played well on both ends and had a number of key plays. The last time he grabbed 5-6 boards in consecutive games, I carefully detailed how extremely lucky he had been. This game...he was incredibly lucky again. Had only one decent rebound and it was with 15 seconds left when the outcome was already decided. There is something to be said for being in the spots that rebounds bounce to, but it's not like he was affecting the overall rebounding percentage.
2 Blatche --> number of bizarre passes and shot poorly, but he played solid D, rebounded the ball, and got into a flow with Wall on offense in the second half
3 Wall --> I thought he had the most impact on both ends of the floor. His passing really set up the offense to get easy shots, which we just don't get without him in the game. He impacted the defensive end a lot too, but sadly that was by gambling or missing assignments. I hope he enjoy watching defensive tape.
I liked seeing a lot of our guys getting pumped up after teammates finished for assists. Shard', Wall and Dray did a lot of fist pumping after getting assists.

It does seem like he hasn't quite been the same since that 2nd Philly game
