I know we have an amazingly sucky Yi thread but it would be great to keep a running tally of the game scores when Yi enters and when he exits. Kind of like +\- under a microscope, examining how, with his miraculous slight of hand, he can quickly turn a 10 point lead into a four point deficit.

Tonight, I believe he entered when we had a 9 point lead and exited with us down by 4 (though I need to go back and look at the play by play).

In ot, we were up by one and the rest is history.

Mods if you must, merge this with the amazingly sucky thread... But I for one am going to track this in whatever thread.

Typically I dvr the games so that I can ff past the commercials... It's more than tempting to just ff past when Yi-vaporate is in.

What's amazing is that, if you were a casual observer (as EG clearly is), you watch a wiz game or two and think, "hey, that dude had some potential." You might notice the soft touch on a 19 foot jumper or the occasional strong box out.

But good golly, when you watch him closely, you get just blown away by the magnitude of the suckitude. If you can point to say Paul Millsap as the kind of guy that does all the little things right and thus makes his team better, you can point to Yi as the guy that does ALL the little things wrong. Decision making, loose ball tracking, rotations... O my god!

From now on, when I see Yi on the court, I'm going to ohm, and just try to imagine him as a gigantic, walking ping pong ball

I came to the realization a few months ago that Yi looks like he's a good player with potential. he's generally in the right place, he generally "fights" for rebounds, his hands are up contesting shots, he generally takes shots when he gets good looks etc. but something is missing. i worry about falling into cultural stereotype traps but he seems too mechanical. he doesnt get the rebounds, he just tips them up and makes the other person take longer to grab it. his hand is up "contesting" the shot but he doesnt block it or cause it to be missed. he's in the right position but doesn't take advantage of it and deflect the pass. etc. etc. it's a shame because his fundamentals are good and he does the right things, they just dont work out because something is a little off. he's a good karoake singer that's just too clean and mechanical (the imperfections are what make things great). jumping straight up and down is good and prevents over the back calls but it doesnt help you get the rebound.

Indeed. Yi lacks court sense. He attacks basketball like a mathematical equation, but he's a step slow in finding the answer. He has no feel for the flow and art of the game; the shifting angles and constant motion baffle him. He cannot even seem to figure out how to use his own athletic prowess.

He has every tool to be a great basketball player. It's a shame he never learned to actually play basketball.

Yes! Haha. Whenever I watch a game with friends and comment on Yi's magnitude of crapiness they always tell me about his stroke or strong boards. They refuse to watch the score when Yi enters vs. leaves or the run the other team makes on us. He's crap and I hope there is 0 intention to bring him back.

He's the perfect driver for a powerful tank. Keep him this year.

The funny thing is that i felt that was one of his better games.

So true. It looks like we're trying to win, but we're not. If Flop ran out someone like, you know, me, it would be too obvious. Playing someone who isn't good by any stretch but whose suckitude isn't as awe inspiring, like Armstrong, would be risking backing into a couple of wins...
