One of the most amazing NBA comebacks ever. The Washington Bullets are down by 17 with 4 minutes left and seems like have lost the first playoffs game of 1986. However veteran Dan Roundfield scoring on one end and Charles Barkley with Julius Erving choking on the other lets the Bullets get back in the game and win it with an impossible game winning three by Dudley Bradley. 1986 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs Round 1 Game 1.

What a great memory! Its funny the details that stay with you, and those that don't. For some reason I clearly remember Roundfield hitting those baseline shots, but I had totally forgotten that Dr J missed three straight free throws. Thanks for posting the video. The only thing cooler would have been a version that had Mel Proctor's call instead of the Philly announcers.

Thanks for sharing that. That was awesome. I was actually away at college at the time and had never seen that. Not a lot of Bullets games shown in Austin Texas.

A few things are amazing about that game, relative to today:
1. the arena was more than half empty
2. very few histrionics... by either team or by the announcers
3. those shorts sure were short
4. a 7'7' guy who stays close to the rim and blocks shots is an important asset

Manute supposedly blocked 11 shots during this game (his playoffs debut)

There isn't a boxscore available for this game and the only statline I have is the commentator saying that Manute has 11 blocks, which I highly doubt as the NBA playoffs record supposedly is 10 (although Bill Russell probably had more back in the day) and he probably deserves to be credited with about 6. So I included the shots he did block, some goaltends, some blocks after fouls and some altered shots, which probably could have been counted as blocks. Anyway it's Bol at his best blocking shots, for this series he averaged 5,8.

Great thread! That comeback was easily my most favorite memory as a child. I remember jumping on my bed and screaming at the top of my lungs after Dudley Bradley hit the game winner. In terms of pure ecstasy the only other moment in Bullets history in my life time to top that was Gilbert's playoff winner.

He might have just been playing the part of the good soldier, but when Moses Malone came to the Wizards, he talked about being intrigued by a pairing with Bol, and referenced the series and the Bol's impact.
