This is a nickname that I came up with. I think this can take off... especially if his Alley-oop to McGee game continues.

HHM, that nickname is nice for the lobs and for DC politics.

I like it. Don't be surprised if one day a media-type uses The Lobbyist on the air...I will never forget hearing Kevin Harlan call MJ's Wizard teammates the Jordanaires (doclinkin, even I didn't know about the gospel/country group when I came up with the nickname for the Wizards 10 years ago). If the name sticks it will be borrowed.

I'll be happy to contribute to our team in some small way. Besides anything that ties Wall to this city is a positive.

That's some insight; I thought you were merging MJ, DC, and the history of music into one handle.

Parliament Funkadelic first called DC the Chocolate City. (Or maybe Gil Scott Heron did??). Grew up with their music and my sister knew some of the group members. The CC part reminds me of P Funk, Sir Nose, Flashlight, One Nation Under A Groove, etc.

Hard to believe that was 30-35 years ago.

I'd like to "lobby" for the nickname "John Law" -- as in, "Johnny just passed that bill and made it a law."

"Lobbyist" sounds like he's always whining to the refs - lobbying for a call to go his way.

I don't think PG's who are primarily distributers end up with nick names.

Wall needs to learn to score the ball before anyone cares to give him a nick name.

Rondo, Nash, even Chris Paul (c'mon CP3? I suppose we could call him JW2 ) don't so much have nick names.. To me it seems something that is usually reserved for big time dunkers/athletes/big men.

Also if I were to think of a nick name for Wall it would have to be something to do with his speed, as that is his #1 attribute on the court right now.

I always got the impression that Chocolate City was in play in DC well before that album, though maybe Clinton dubbed it that. Maybe the name came from some DCer that's lost to history (cue WTA's thread).

I used to work with a man that led the P-Funk all-stars horn section. He'd always let us all know when they were appearing locally or on TV. Did you ever know a woman that called herself "Space Lady"?

As for a Wall nickname, I like his last name fine. That name is strong, and if he becomes great, he can join the elite ranks of Duncan, Nash, Bird, Wilt, Kobe, Jordan (I know I'm reaching high here) with a single name that, when mentioned in reference to basketball, says it all. Wall.

Love the nickname. Anything to keep him away from the initials + number routine. Its beginning to sound like the NBA is recruiting star wars droids en masse.

Im also a fan of just "Wall" for the reasons above, but The Lobbyist is a throwback to the great nicknames of old, and it has a regional attatchment. Nice.

He shouldn't have taken advice from Jennings who told him to pass more.

Also why don't we see him split the defense any more?

monte, my sister would almost certainly have known the "Space Lady". They had to travel in the same circles. Your coworker...was his first name Greg? I knew one member that IIRC went on to play with Mtume. Back then I hadn't totally come of age, if you know what I mean. Didn't know too much about life in the fast lane.

I was super square in HS, but my sister was into the after parties. She even introduced my mom (a church lady) to George Clinton. I didn't even want to know then.

Yes, Greg, I forget his last name. Played trombone. Really nice man. Very sharp dresser. I don't know how far back he went with P-Funk, since he was younger than Clinton and the original set.

Space Lady was housemates with another colleague years back. I think her name's in the Chocolate City liner notes with the DC crew. I met her at a few parties. Very friendly, but definitely lived up to that name.

Wonder if those two are still around.

I enjoyed it for it's pure outrageousness. $hit, GD, Get off your @ss and jam.
The song titles were outrageous by themselves.

i've been calling him the wallaby. yeah, you heard it here first.

wall is a wizard and wizards are usually the most intelligent people in society.

the nickname should reflect a high intelligence.

In general, the wizards trademark should be that of intelligence, wizard like passes. Wizard like shots...360 nick young layup.

We need wizard intelligence like execution and plays. A wizard is a master at his craft. We need wall to be a wizard at all the nuances of playing the point guard position. I would even consider Sam Cassell a wizard in his prime.

We need a ex bigman that most considered a wizard with the bastketball. Chris Webber passing comes to mind. Hakeem with his dream shake...he had wizard like moves for a center.

Steve Nash with his passes and his dribbing skills look like an actual wizard on the fast break since he his always 3 seconds ahead of hte defense.

A wizard study gigantic spell book and operates at higher intelligence than the average person. That's the type of mentality we need at the coaching and GM positions and what we need wall's mentality to be right now.
