It's not about stats, but every time Josh Howard plays, we play well.

Yeah, I hope he continues to play well and can stay healthy long enough to trade him. Isn't being a Wizards fan great? :D

As for the player of the game, I didn't see the game, but I won't let that stop me. Put me down for John Wall.

It's obviously Ji and the lack of Pine's influence in the gamethread.

Wall proved again why he's gonna be huge in this league...

So i havent seen the game yet, but that is a nice line from Blatche. Around 12-14 shots is about the max that i'd like to see him take, nice job hitting the majority of them.

But how did he play?

Looks like Wall gets it, but its a close call between Wall and a team win just looking at the stats.

If these guy weren't so young and didn't have Howard injured all year, they would have been a lot better.

Should be interesting to see what they do after the AS break. Sadly, it may be better for them to lose at a point when they should be able to win more. For those that want to see more loses, at least the game will be better tougher so even if they play better, they could still lose.

They have more talent then the record shows.

Wall will be good. Even this year he has turned the corner with his D.
Nick is good and will get better as he get used to being a starter.
McGee is still a freak and will only get better. Kid has huge upside.
Howard is good and an solid defender.
Kirk is solid
Booker will find a role.
Lewis is good
Marin can work his way into be a solid back up SG who can hit the 3 ala Mason.

They have talent. Just had to get over moving Gil and get over being so young and injured.

To bad they can't start the season over with the players as healthy and developed as they are now.

Ji, are you 2-1 in game threads?

I didn't see the game until the last five minutes (sorry, had other things to do besides wallowing in misery) and it looks like I missed their most important victory since game 7 of the 1978 finals. I'm giving it to Ji because the game was well in hand when he made the game thread.

Blatche actually played pretty well. He was hustling as well to loose balls, which was a good sign.

Yup. That's why I really hope we can re-sign him this summer for cheap.

Young shot great against an odd variety of defenders, but clearly Wall was the game's MVP.

I hate not to give it to Howard. He played such a solid vet game and he vastly improves our team defense when he's out there. Whatever intangibles this team lacks, Howard improves them.

My vote, however, is for Wall. He played the type of all-around game that you want from the number one pick. Even got two blocks. 14:2 A:TO. When a lot of players have good statlines, I think you have to give credit to the PG.

Everybody played pretty well. Wall put up huge numbers. Howard was hitting from 3 and playing good D. Blatche got a bunch of offensive boards late in the game to demoralize Cleveland when it appeared that they were mounting a comeback. Young was scorching hot until the 4th quarter.

It's hard to be too enthusiastic though. It was mostly a matter of Cleveland being a terrible basketball team with embarrassingly bad defense. I continue to be amazed that that team could defend so well in the Lebron days. Two players: Lebron and Varejao, managed to make that awful team one of the best defensive teams in the league.

My players of the game are:
1. Wall - Can't argue with those numbers.
2. Young - 31 points in 32 minutes. Jeesh.
3. Howard - the team plays better when he is on the floor and healthy.
HM: Blatche. Had a few dumb turnovers early, but clinched the win late with his offensive rebounding.

Would it be unduly snarky of me to write-in "The Cavs" for PotG?

Say what you want about Blatche, and he has been incredibly sucky at times this year, but the overall upgrade from Jamison was made really clear last night.

Almost a full day later, I'm still in stunned disbelief about just how bad AJ's defending was... and am grateful that we no longer have to cuss at our television................. about Jamison's defense, anyway.

Oh, yeah, on the subject of POTG: Nick

That's true, but he's also benefited from the team being largely healthy when he's been able to play, which means for every minute he plays we're decreasing deep bench minutes played.

This team has to be healthy to win. They have to many young pieces who are inconsistent at this point.

But Howard would make them better regardless. He is a solid defender. He is a playoff tested vet. And he has been an All Star. Of course they play better with him. That would probably even be true of a more established team. I am inexperienced team, yeah.. its pretty noticeable.
