Should we move up to take a shot at Barnes?

Post#1 » by Dark Faze » Thu Mar 3, 2011 2:29 pm

He failed to live up to the hype, but the system he plays in doesn't exactly look great. Look at Jones III..Dunn and the other chuckers can't seem to realize that the kid should be the number 1 option on offense.

We're talking about a draft where the Clippers just traded a lottery pick for Mo Williams...

I like Barnes. I think combining him with Sullinger/Jones in combination with Nick could finally be the exclamation point on this rebuilding process. He's humble, seems to be a hard worker, and the investment could well be worth the risk if he even comes close to the hype he got in HS.

Question to the Gm'ers here though...is it worth it? And can it be done?

It's hard to say where he'll be picked after we make our Sullinger or Jones selection (assuming we don't get cheesed in the lottery of course).

Drafts have him between the 6th and 13th overall. I think the euros get passed over and he goes between 6 and 9.

If there's any draft where we can trade into a lottery situation without overpaying it might be this one...especially if we're willing to take on bad salary.

Blatche/Late 1st/Prospect For somebody elses bad contract and a lottery pick?

Barnes could still come out. He seems really upset they lost. So they say at least.
