Ted Leonsis: "A new big three has announced its arrival"

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Wed Apr 6, 2011 6:36 pm

I see what you're doing Ted

http://www.tedstake.com/2011/04/06/learning-to-win/

See the players’ confidence building.

See players developing right before your eyes.

That is what a rebuild is all about.

A new big three has announced its arrival - Wall, Crawford and Blatche. Big minutes - big productivity - big results. And wins, too.

We are short-handed and so players are getting bigger minutes to show the world what they can do.

We have two first round draft picks next off season. We have cap space.

We are young.

We have upside.

We are becoming an exciting team to watch.

The sun is shining out today.

Admit it. It feels good to be Wizards fans watching the rebuild unfold, yes? I am so grateful to you all and I appreciate all of your positive emails.

Thank you.

I still think part of rebuilding should likely include getting rid of Blatche and McGee and getting whatever in return we can for them. This is the 2nd year in a row Blatche only shows up starting late March. Is McGee just fooling us into thinking he is tapping into his potential, EXACTLY like Blatche did to us last year?

Wall and Crawford, yeah I like them going forward. Even if Crawford sometimes reminds me of an Arenas/Hughes hybrid sort of gunner. Has Nick Young bought himself 1 more year with his play earlier in the year? (Hard to recall, but there was a time in the deep midwinter when his play was about the only encouraging thing.)

We still are in search of a reliable big man or two. Seraphin has his enforcer moments, but he should not be more than a spot player for defense.

This seems to be an enduring, and bad, trend with this team. They only play hard in the last portion of the year. When it counts, they cannot perform. It's that lack of mental toughness we talked about when the road losing streak was reaching historic levels.

Wall, Crawford, Young (for scoring off the bench), Seraphin (to hurt people off the bench). . .Booker perhaps? Other than that we got perpetual D-League types, 2 chronically hurt veterans, and 2 headcases. . .hard to see next year looking all THAT much better than this year.

It's a silly statement, even for Ted. In an earlier blog post he mentioned Wall, Young and Crawford as the backcourt of the future which was equally stupid since Young isn't under contract and an agent would be able to use that as leverage.

Ted is a little loose with the lips sometimes.

And that doesn't even touch whether or not I think Jordan Crawford is going to be a good player yet. I'd say the jury hasn't rendered any opinion just yet.

Yeah, I'm guessing he puts out a clarification on his "big 3" comment within the next few weeks.

Truth is though the team isn't in any rush yet to deal Blatche. It's not like there's really a premeir PF that is waiting in the wings. Seraphin and Booker have showed signs, but both are probably a ways away, at least Kevin is, from being legitimate rotational guys.

Being as such unless the team draft Derrick Williams (which would assume they once again net the top pick or perhaps the second pick), I don't see anyone else in the draft that could force a Blatche move hastly.

Having said that he should be shopped around a bit on draft night, maybe get expirings and a pick in the teens etc...I still see Memphis being the hottest suitor for him with Z-Bo extension still in limbo. Regardless couldn't that team still use some depth at the 4/5 on a cap friendly Blatche deal? They could then orchestrate a 3 way with Washington where Mayo goes to Indy, they get Blatche, and Washington ends up with Dahntay Jones and Indy's 1st rd pick....I think that works well for everyone involved right?

Let's hope the front offices of other teams forget about him too, so we can resign him cheap.

Just like Gilbert was going to be here when Ted posted numerous times how Gilbert will remain a Wizard.

Blatche will be out of here the moment some idiot GM offers a decent player/prospect for him.

No offense, but you're a bunch of miserable, whiny, negative, mean-spirited, empathy-lacking a-holes. You should all feel extremely lucky that you're not accomplished or successful enough to have strangers burn energy rooting against you. A pox on all your houses.

Actually, I get a lot of that myself. I have to say that, being as accomplished as I am, I have what I think of as (for lack of a better term) hate-groupies. They wish ills upon me and, well, that makes me feel like the luckiest guy in the world. I look at resentful people as a mirror reflecting my own success.

The Big-3 must see, because a pro's got to know. Ted's made his bed, and he can lie in it as a billionaire.

Big-3 at the stat rack in a hugomongo loss tonight, but Blatchemo continues to work on making himself tradeable, avg. 25 pts and 12 rbs and 3 steals in the last 5 while seeing a lot more FTs.

Hey hey, don't soak in all the hate. There's plenty for everyone. That reminds of the Steven Wright joke. He's at the grocery store parking lot and sees a guy pushing 30 shopping carts. So he yells (as only Steven Wright can yell) "You know, somebody might want to use one of those."

It's been a Blatchetastic evening.
