Gil live interview about Ted and how he called him out

Wow

Anyone just see that in the post game. Exclusive interview by Gil on TV.

Gil calling out Ted for letting out what happened just to get ride of him.

Said he owns giving him the ammo but said it was Teds call to let it out. New owner coming in made a business decision. Said there was like a week between when it happening and the news getting out. That EG meet with Ted and asked how he wanted it handled and that Ted gave him directions.

Let me see if my DVR recorded it all so I can give more details.

I might need a bit more clarity as to the specifics to form much of an opinion here.

Only Gil.

Last game of the season. All cameras are on as the Caps start the playoffs.

Drama queen strikes again.

So Gil didnt even play the last two games of the season ?

Arenas (knee) will not play in Wednesday's regular season finale against the Pacers, the Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins reports.

I'm just telling you what I just watched and what he said.

Here. I have it. Interview with Chris Miller.

There is some open stuff about felling bad that he broke the team up and Abe passing away. Something about losing 35-50M. Abe believed in him and took a chance on him. And how Abe protected him from the world. Ok.. here is some word for word later in the interview.. I'll do my best to get word for word.

Gil says

.. People don't understand... like. The only reason you heard about anything is because someone wanted it to get out. Like if, if fans believe that this stuff doesn't happen in an NBA locker room, you are really kidding yourself.

If you have something to lose. You know with Abe ..that's his reputation. Your not going to let it out. Just like any other team out there. Your not going to let curtain things get out.

But since there is nobody there. For it to fall on.

People decided.. we are going to let this out.

Miller.. Who.

Gil. I don't know. I think it was more of business decision. And when I say business decision I mean.
You have Ms Polin who is selling the team. You have Ted who is buying the team. And if you are upper management and you have this situation in your hands. which. I gave them. I mean. I basically brung it on your plate by doing what I did. You have a decision to make. Well. Do I let it go ? Ask the new owner coming in? What do you want me to do ?

And then then that is where my anger came in. Because I knew what was happening. You have to remember. This happened on the 21st. And it didn't get into the paper until the first. So it was basically 9, 10, 11 for them to shift what they needed to shift and think about the decision. So I'm looking at this in the back like... Sorry. I already know how this is going to play out.

Because your a new owner coming in. You have nothing to loose. You're new. Youre the white horse coming in. You're going to clean up shop. So if the story breaks its not on you. Its not on Ms Polin. Its not on no one. Its just a story breaking out.

Miller.
For the record. Do you take full responsibility for everything that happen.

Gil.
Yes. Yes. I take full responsibility of the action. Because if I wouldn't have done it. This wouldn't have happened. Thats like I said. It was a business decision. And thats why I cant blame them. Its a business. If I was in the same position as they were. I would have done the same thing.

End of interview.

So what does Gil have to gain by saying all this why he did ?
Why now ?
If he doesn't blame them ? If he would do the same. What bring it up again ?
Sounds like he is letting EG off the hook. He was just doing Teds bidding like a good EG would.
He doesn't even seem to be really blaming Ted but he is putting this at his feet.

Playoffs are about to start. Gil getting back in the headlines. But he hasn't played the last two games. The drama builds. What is he doing ?

The way I read it, Gil isn't sure who to blame, Ted or Irene Pollin.

This supports what I suspected all along: EG didn't mishandle the Arenas situation. He was doing the bidding of ownership.

CCJ

That is the odd thing. He owned it was his fault. He said he would have done the same thing if he was them.

The money comment was early on but not a big part of what he said.

So what would be his motivation ?

Why now ?

I guess part of it would be he is about to hit the big stage again. He is going to get national media.
Maybe he is floating what he wants to say. I think his first attempt wasn't very good.

Just glad he isn't our problem anymore. But I still hope he finds his way and find some happiness.

Chris Miller plays right into it too, like a puppet. Dude doesn't even play here anymore yet he's getting an interview with him?

Interviewer: Are you angry about what happened?
Gil: Yes
Interviewer: Why?
Gil: Because ownership had the option of keeping it quiet and they didn't.
Interviewer: Do you think they should have kept it quiet?
Gil: No, I would have done the same thing. Still makes me mad though. You know how it is. I lost $x million because of that decision, even though I know it's the decision they had to make.

So yeah, whatever. If he didn't ignore his trainers and develop arthritis in his knee by botching his rehab he would have been considered a valuable asset and ownership would have kept it quiet. Because his knee was all messed up ownership took advantage of his screwup to try to cut him loose, and they succeeded in at least getting out of a bad contract for the rest of that year. The point is that it is ALL GIL'S FAULT. EVERY LAST OUNCE OF IT. I understand why he's angry, but the only person he can blame is himself.

Gil is one of those dudes who blames everyone else but himself. He's mad b/c the Wizards didn't keep it quiet but then admitted in saying he would have done the same thing.

Was that Gil or Boomhauer from King of the Hill. He talked a lot, but I'm not sure he said anything.

Haven't we learned by now that no one should pay a damn bit of attention to anything Gil says?

Ted went to bat for Arenas. Tried to bring him back into the fold. Ernie was NOT taking direction from Ted during the sale process. Ted thought they could keep Arenas on the team and rehab his game and his image. Gil seemed to be going along with that, but somewhere along the line (perhaps when stuff really started going bad at home) seemed to change his mind. Stopped putting forth full effort in practice. Stopped listening to coaches. Started lashing out at teammates. Started engaging in tampering type conversations with another GM.

At that point, Ted authorized a trade and Ernie made it.

Look, Gil was a ton of fun to talk with, and I loved the guy -- my all-time favorite interview. He says stuff without a moment's thought, and he may or may not mean it, even in the moment. Catch him 30 minutes later, and he'd probably blame the whole thing on his cat. Nothing he says should be taken seriously or interpreted as factual or truthful. The only thing we know based on the fact that Gil said it is that Gil said it.

What a bunch of complete idiots you all are.

This interview is from Gil's first game back in D.C. as a Magic player. It's not new news, but I suppose with nothing better to talk about the dyslexic wonder thought it best to drudge up this old interview and sell it off as something new. This is old news.

I must say this season was infinitely more enjoyable to watch without engaging you know-it-alls daily. Bunch of morons couldn't even decipher how old this interview is and are all talking about it like something new, wow.
