Predict Our Lottery Spot


What do you think it will be this year? Could we be so lucky to get the top pick 2 years running? Thats never happened before, has it? We did so well last year that will probably drop to our last possible spot this time around and unfortuantly for us, its a weak draft

Rafael has dug up last year's lottery thread, in case you want to review it. I note that if the Wizards don't get the #1 pick in the lottery, you'all can feel free to make the inference that Ji > dlts. Dude (dlts), that's not a good place to be.

Bonus: Anyone who makes sincere statements about a David Stern conspiracy about who gets to pick wins bonus points.

My prediction is dependent on a number of things:

1. John Wall is representing us. He says that he's gonna ask Mrs. Polin if he can borrow her lucky yellow jacket.

2. The new incarnation of Ji has yet to create a lotto thread. (I hope he's okay).

IF Wall is wearing Mrs. Polin's yellow jacket AND Ji/Jay swoops in soon to create a lotto thread, it's a lock that we go #1 again.

Anything else, #6.

Can we make this the official draft lottery thread? I didn't realize that the draft lottery is so soon - it's on this Tuesday!

I will be shocked if we move up at all.

The 5th pick strikes me as being the most plausible. It's about a 38% chance of us going top 3, but if we don't, you'd expect at least someone from behind us to jump up. I would actually be shocked if we got the 4th pick with all three teams ahead of us maintaining that position.

But the 4th through 6th picks would all be rather equivalent from what I can see; about the same cast of characters we'd be looking at.

5th, you don't get good-luck mojo two-years in-a-row.

Didn't Orlando get the first pick two years in a row?

Unfortunately, I'm going with 5th. Ran it a few times on the simulator and got 5th most of the time.

I had a gut feeling last year that we would get a top 3 pick that I don't have this year, and didn't the year before (the Year of Miller and Foye).

I think we get jumped by 2 teams and end up #6. Remember the team that loses the tiebreaker always wins the whole lottery, which would be Utah. So I see it going:

1) Utah (from NJ)
2) Cleveland (from Clippers)
3) Minnesota
4) Cleveland
5) Toronto
6) WIZ
7) Sac
8) Det
etc

That puts us in Biyombo/Vesely/Valanciunas territory. As we've discussed 10 billion times in the draft thread(s) already.

Stern see's a potential cash cow in Wall and the new Wizards so he will do whatever it takes to get us talent. We will either get the 2nd or 3rd pick.

Cleveland or Toronto will get #1
