Wizards interested in Arenas?
Seems like a good fit to me, The Wizz could use a solid veteran presence at point guard to backup John Wall and I think Arenas can definitely fill that void, he will also rejuvinate his career and possibly win sixth man of the year.

Might as well adding him will definitely plummet the Wizards into worst record and get #1 draft pick.

Yeah this is a great idea. We should trade for Brendan Haywood, Caron Butler, DeShawn Stevenson and Michael Ruffin. Fire Flip Saunders for Eddie Jordan.

Re: Wizards interested in Arenas?
What about Arenas would make anyone describe him as a "solid veteran"?

At San Quentin, Charles Manson is often referred to as a solid veteran presence.

If he's ok for signing for the vet minimum and seeing <20mpg, i wouldn't have a problem with it. it's not a great move, but i don't think it's laughably bad either.

If there wasn't the history, I could see it. However it would be a poor match for both sides. With Wall, Crawford and Mack, there isn't many minutes for another PG.
I think there are teams with championship aspirations and at least as many minutes available. His list, the Lakers, Knicks, Heat and team acquiring Dwight Howard makes a lot of sense.

I think he needs to go to the opposite location. He needs to go to a team that is terrible where he can find his game if there is any of it left.
Maybe Detroit

I'd be pretty shocked if anyone gave Gilbert a chance. I'm guessing he's done as a player.

I hear that there are some roster spots available in Turkey.

I'm gonna take the high road here and remember the good ole days when Gil was God on these broads, and just say thanks but no thanks.

I really dislike how much we're agreeing on things lately (probably no coincidence we're edging closer to 2012 and the end of the Mayan Calendar), but you're right. The Arenas saga in Washington ended on absolutely terrible terms but I simply can't let that define his tenure with the Wizards. He was too good and too entertaining for too long for me to start berating him with insults.

I'm in the minority, but I still think Arenas is/can be a good to very good NBA player. While he'll never be vintage Agent Zero again, most of his problems last year were mental/confidence and we all know how Gil's mental state affects his game. People who think Arenas is done in the NBA? C'mon now. Wasn't he averaging 18 pts/8 assists/4 rebs as recently as the open of last season?
But not in DC. That well has been poisoned badly and neither side would ever consider it. I think Arenas would rather retire than play for Grunfeld and I don't blame him.

Someone mentioned Charles Manson in another thread - they said the same thing about Manson that you said about Arenas - his problems were mental.

It would be a smart move for a contending team to use their LLE on Manson. If he has anything left in the tank, he could make a contribution as a back up wing for 15 mpg, and maybe even as a spot starter.

Agreed. Let's not overlook his locker room influence as well. Any team could use a little more killer instinct.
