Boy has this guy regressed. Last year, a lot of people loved him for his fire and swagger on the court, and many were even saying he should start over N1 this year. He showed off some nifty passes last year, and there were people here even saying he's a better passer and can run the offense better than Wall.

This year, he's been horrible. He's insistent on playing "me-first" ball and tries to play 1-on-1 basically everytime he gets the ball. Dude has no clue how to run the offense, and plays too much for himself. He's chucks up so many ill-advised sucks, even though he's a bad shooter and his mechanics are horrible. It seems like his jumper has even regressed this season (even though he was never a good shooter.) I think I'm gonna break my TV the next time I see him chuck up a 30-footer w/ 16 secs left on the shot clock. I might start calling him Jordan 'Chuckford' from now on.

You know, watching Blatche play is a horrid experience. but over the 6+ years he's been here, he's had enough positive moments that selective memory allows me to not recoil in complete disgust every time I see him do something stupid. Maybe just every other time.

Crawford doesn't have such history. I may hate watching him play more than any player I've ever seen. There's simply nothing like watching a guy who CANNOT shoot heave terrible shot after terrible shot, with no regard for time and score. I will smile just a little bit the day Jordan is no longer a Wizard.

I never saw Crawford play in college, but his college shooting numbers look pretty good. In the pros, his ft% had a significant spike, and his 2 pt % and 3 pt % had significant dips. Better defenses and better players, but I wonder how much might be the way he's employed or coached? He is hard to watch. It's like watching McGee dribble the length of the court or Blatche no look a behind the back bounce pass, all at once.

Finally a thread where we can complain about his horrible play. =)

Hate to say it, but Crawford hasn't regressed -- he's basically the same guy this season as he was last season. Some folks got excited because of some big games, but a few tried to pump the brakes a bit. He was exciting at times, but his inefficiency was worrisome. It still is. Unless he improves A LOT, he's not going to be a winning player.

It must be because we're not capable of seeing the "meta" view. We need badinage to further discuss the virtues of Crawford's intangibles - and why they're more important than his horrible inefficiencies.

I was one to get excited, and he certainly has disappointed. He was efficient in college and this year and last year have been complete clusterfudges, so I'm not giving up on him yet. He's going to need to improve dramatically.

I did, however, always temper my enthusiasm for Crawford by saying that he, like Young, has question marks, but his contract situation is far better suited for our rebuilding than Young's, so we should not commit money to Young and instead run with Crawford. I feel like this is still a valid point, sadly made valid by the poor and inconsistent play by both players.

Minor point of disagreement: When I see Crawford play, I think, "he sucks". When I see Young play, I think, "his shot isn't falling".

For the most part, Young is still operating within the offense and taking appropriate shots. He just hit a cold streak. I think Young will work through the shooting slump and regain his form from last year. I'm much less confident about Crawford.

Its amazing how incredibly selfish he plays in games, and then after the last castigated everyone for playing selfish.

Dude has been terrible lately, that's a fact. I guess selfish means "not working harder to get me the ball."

Crawford is on my bubble as the player who needs dealt the quickest.

This team is trying to learn how to play team ball and Crawford is the back up PG. With Wall playing the way he is, this team can not afford to have someone back him up that plays like Crawford does.

He may be better in a few years but this team needs some stability now. They need to be able to roll someone out there who can play like an NBA PG so Wall can see what they looks like.

This is the move I want to see EG working on right now. Send Crawford some place that has time to work with him in exchange for a more vet PG. This team has enough projects already. You have to pick you battles.

So what PGs are out there that we can pick up for Crawford. We can toss in a 2nd pick if needed.

Shooting guards rarely improve much past their second season. What you see is what you get. I think the odds are very high that Crawford will be out of the league within 3 years. He's got the mentality of a star but the shooting ability of a D-Leaguer. That's a bad combination.

I'd include him as filler or "incentive" in any trade package right now. I'd much rather have Mack as our backup PG and Mason as our backup SG. I would cut him this summer unless he improves dramatically over the rest of the year.

Crawford is by far my least favorite player on this team, and as far as I'm aware, we haven't traded Blatche yet, so that's saying something. I'd rather see the team do any number of bad things - run a Wall/Mack backcourt, play Young 40+ minutes per game, try Singleton out of position at SG - than to have Crawford be part of the regular rotation.

I'm getting whiplash watching people change opinions on a player. Wasn't it just this summer that Crawford was going to take over the starting job and make Nick Young expendable? Didn't he have a "special spark" in his play that overrode any concerns about pedestrian considerations like efficiency?

I got knocked around in the offseason by some here just for saying that I don't see him as a starter - even when I said he could become a good 3rd guard. And it wasn't just badinage.

Yeah, I keep remembering one poster who said "Crawford is a rare bird". Well, his jumper is extinct so I guess that could still be true. *rimshot*

I liked what Crawford brought as a backup PG last season, and I thought he could become solid in a 3-guard rotation. But I was still very open to including him in trade scenarios, and it looks like that will end up being the way it goes. His shot has been so terrible so far this year, it's like he regressed. I mean, shades of Donnell Taylor regressed. The whole comparing himself to MJ was also a turnoff and probably means that he's too enamored with his own game to change.
