It appears he will wear #42. Here's hoping he supplants Greg Ballard as our best #42 ever.

The Wizards better hope he wants to play. From what I hear he likes to coast sometimes. You know what? It's all about the tank, so if he bs's it's not going to hurt anything. For this season at least.

To be honest I haven't heard a lot of good about Nene in Denver. Personally I'm going to wait and see. The good thing is we'll find out soon how this is going to go.

Whoa, he's smiling and sounds genuinely excited to play here. Lewis looked like someone just kicked him in the nuts in every interview after we got him. What a joke.

That is a steroid joke lob of Chris Paulian quality.

Lol, completely forgot he was on the juice a couple seasons ago. Wouldn't mind if he started shooting up again, maybe he can be DC's new Laron Landry (have fun with him and that achilles,Jets...).

I've always really liked Nene's game. I hope he comes out with a chip on his shoulder to prove he's worth that contract. Really excited to see him on Wednesday.

Bump, by request.

I went to the game last night and man, I really enjoy watching Nene play.

His first play of the game was a thing of beauty. Caught the ball in the high post/elbow. Took one convincing power dribble toward the rim to draw the D, and kicked to Cartier for the open three in the corner (which he made). It was a simple, fundamental, effective basketball play that neither Blatche nor Mcgee would have made in 100 possessions.

The dude is just strong as an ox too. He's really tough for opposing bigs to handle because he's just so thick and strong. He plays a man's game inside. I thought his defensive positioning and boxing out were very good in what I noticed as well.

I just like the guy.

A recent interview of Seraphin indicates that Nene has taken Seraphin under his wing. Those two together are going to be a nightmare for the opposition. They're just so strong and they ENJOY being physical. Most good bigs have one or two good years as physical post players, and then fall in love with the midrange game. I don't see that happening with Nene or Seraphin. They're just going to beat up on people down low every night, on every possession.

Other teams aren't going to want to play us.

I cannot believe how much of a difference maker Nene has been, both for the mentality of the players on the court, as well as the crispness of the play overall. I had mixed opinions on the trade (fearing that Java would blow up in Denver) but at this point, I'd rather have great play now than maybe-great-play later. Glad he's here.

Nice to hear that you are liking Nene, as a brazilian, i'm rooting a lot for you now. I root for Orlando Magic, but i always like to pay attention to the teams with brazilians (Nuggets and Suns, then Raptors, Spurs... and now Pacers and Wizards).

BTW, Bullets was a much better name, i remember the Rod, Cheaney, Webber, JHoward and GHEORGHE MURESAN days.

Nene is a beast and is making Wall smile so much more often than he
did when JaVale was here it's like night and day.

He's got a much more complete game than I realized.
He's a solid 2 way player with much more range on offense
than I realized. And his handle is pretty good too. Add in
an excellent BBIQ and you're left with very little to criticize.

I like watching him too, and if he can stay healthy, Wall will be very happy playing with him. I know it's a limited sample size, but he's even rebounding better than I expected.

What I've been most surprised by has been Nene's passing. He had an assist on a fast break a couple of games ago that was impressive for a big man.

Seems like he's always been a pretty good passer. I like that, as a group, the bigs are more willing to pass. Nene's good, but so is Vesely, and Singleton's pretty fair too. Even Seraphin seems more willing than McGee was to pass back out rather than trying to force something. Quite a change from the Wizards as usual.

Nene can score in the post and hit a mid range J. I'm not worried about his age. He has had knee injuries but he has adapted over his career.

I'm glad we got him. We need the solid veteran leadership with a young roster. Plus, we don't need to have a big man coach anymore with J. Singleton and Nene around.

not sure about this year but before nene was always top5 in assists among centers, that on a very low usage. (never higher than 19%).

He's tremendously efficient too despite creating most of his shots in the post and also shooting some mid range balls here and there.

He's averaging 17.4 PER on 18.4 USG% on his career, which is quite difficult to pull it off on such low usage...

OTOH, One thing that'll help in a lot is not playing half of the time in Denver. He's a power center that runs the floor all the time... He gets tired a lot, that's why he sucks on second nights of back to back.

Considering that, I believe he'll grab more rebounds and block more shots in Washington. We'll have to wait and see but if he gets his rebound up to 9+ per game and raises his blocks a bit more he'll become a complete center.

Judging by his last post game interviews he seems very happy and looks like he wants to make Denver people regret their decision. I'm predicting him to have his best season ever in points, rebounds and blocks per game next year, wont be hard, tho. Gonna have to play way more than the usual ~30 minutes per game in Denver.

We'll see. :D

Age and health over the life of his contract are why I opposed the McGee/Nene deal.

Javale is 24 and healthy. Nene will soon be 30 and he is not.

Denver now owes Javale $44M over the next 4 seasons. Washington owes Nene $52M over the same time, which is exactly $2M more every season.

Don't know why anyone is surprised. He didn't have surgery or anything done for his foot and has been playing all summer with Brazil.

This will nag throughout the season.
