Marc Spears and Woj broke the news last night, should we give him a chance since were pretty early in the waiver wire. Can never have enough bigs and he could possibly play SF.

No. He can't.

Hickson also takes about 25% of his shots from between 16 and 23 feet (in technical jargon "ass" shots) and makes about 30% of them.

Anyway, is anybody would care to praise his post game or assert he overwhelms his poor efficiency with "true grit" I'm going for WizBoard bad argument bingo.

Small forward, really.

Nah, I've exceeded my quota of arguing just for the hell of it. I don't have any feelings about Hickson's game right now.

JJ Hickson is a guy I liked when he was at NC State. In the past, I thought he could be a decent PF for the Princeton offense EJ used to run. Back when Hickson was with Cleveland, playing next to Lebron, he looked like a player Washington could use. However, his recent body of work and the new compilation of Wizard forwards suggests to me there is no room at the inn for JJ Hickson. Just like in Sacto, there are enough fair to middling young forwards on this roster.

But like I said, I don't feel strongly about Hickson, one way or the other.

Secondly, don't we have a free agent thread?

I don't actually have that strong an aversion to Hickson either, given that he has at least some track record of providing some value and it's only upon assuming his current role post-LeBron that his efficiency has really gone in the tank. Perhaps being put in a situation in which it's abundantly clear that nothing but the quality of his own play is going to keep him in the NBA would galvanize him to play a more efficient floor game but I am not at all sure Washington is the place to do that. Picking him up and giving him time might also mean phasing Vesely effectively out of the rotation, which isn't especially troubling to me but is probably not an attractive idea to the team.

But there are ways to make a good argument for the guy and there are... not ways.

Hickson might be worth a look as a back-up C/PF, but I think that is probably it. I think for the rest of the season, it would be better to go with the guys the Wizards have on rookie deals, and possibly pursue him in the off-season if more depth is needed.

If he was a SG/SF with the same mix of potential and performance, I would be a lot more enthusiastic about picking him up.

Very disappointing as a player. The Suns might sign him, he's just 23 and at least rebounds some. Maybe he needs to go to Europe and develop his game.

If only we could have landed him in the Jamison deal....
