I can't remember enough about him to know whether that's a compliment or an insult. [EDIT: I guess it could be neither]

PS: Is that a shadow on Wes' forehead or the world's longest widow's peak?

PPS: Does Unseld go to any games anymore? He used to sit on the floor right below my section, but I haven't seen him in at least two seasons.

That guy would have been a very good NFL tight end.

Also, with legs like that I bet Wes could have been a tremendous striker in MMA or a big puncher in boxing.

With the way he threw the outlet pass, I bet Wes could have certainly hurled a baseball in the 90s if not more than that.

Last, Wes was extremely tall for body building but he had legs even the greats in that sport would die for. His legs were freaky well-developed for a tall man. Arnold would have been proud of those gams.
Bye bye Beal.

I don't like to plug stuff, but the MLB season starts today, Nats begin a series with the Cubbies. Nats are finally suppose to contend for a playoff spot, so if you guys don't mind, step out to the Nats board every once in awhile: viewforum.php?f=124

We could certainly use more posters on there, they're suppose to be an exciting team to watch. I'll try and keep the board as active as possible.

Thanks guys!

Whoever leaked that tape of Greg Williams has ruined the guy. He will NEVER get another job in football again, at any level.

I think he comes off like a crazy guy in the tape. However, in the moment and in context, that is exactly what helps teams win. I will never forget the Saints' playoff victory over Favre and the Vikings. They were trying to injure Favre. They hit him late. They hit him low. They did hurt him. They won that game and the Super Bowl later.

Greg Williams isn't the only guy who has talked like that in a locker room. I only played in HS and I can remember rejoicing at the idea of knocking an opponent out of a game--probably breaking his leg. Felt real good at the time but in retrospect that was SICK and DISGUSTING. Still, in football that's what you do on defense if you hit hard enough.

Williams sounds crazy on that tape, but I understand and I bet a lot of NFL defensive players and coaches will have his back.
Bye bye Beal.

don't watch Mitchell and Carter much but found myself watching a little
last night. I thought Mitchell made a great point when he pointed out
that it was only 1-2 years ago that the NFL was making money on videos
of big hits, not too far removed from the same time frame that Williams
and the rest are getting all the criticism for. Not saying Williams and the
like shouldn't be called on it but that there's a ton of hypocrisy going on here.

Sounds too much like listeria. I prefer Hudsanity.

I'm glad to see Lester arrive in the NBA. He's better than Jordan Crawford IMO.

Any guy that gets an NCAA quadruple double has a decent game for the NBA. Lester at times played about as well as Wall in summer league last season. Hudson is a small SG. He's got to avoid being streaky bad as a shooter if he wants to stay in the league.

It is good to see Lester rebounding, getting steals, and passing well. He is going to keep a job just like Jeremy Lin and Gerald Green this time IMO. Lester really got lucky with Sessions having been traded and Kyrie Irving being out injured. That gave Hudson a chance at minutes.
Bye bye Beal.

One thing I'll never understand about hockey -- a high stick can lead to a multi-game suspension but two players, mid-game, can take their gloves off and start punching each other senselessly with the refs looking on, and no action is taken.

Being a basketball fan first, it's just so strange seeing fighting basically promoted by the NHL and absolutely feared and discouraged by every other major sporing league.

Am I the only one who feels Anthony Davis would be a good replacement for Dwight Howard on the Olympic team? His only responsibilities would be to defend, board and back up Chandler. I'd imagine they'd ask Bynum to come aboard before Davis but I'm more interested in seeing what Davis could do with the rest of the team members.

Either one would be fine additions.

Or they could invite JaVale again. (runs ducking 4 cover)

Wow, Minnesota traded away their first round pick this year in 2005 -- for Marko Jaric. Yikes.

"their first-round pick is owed to New Orleans (via the Clippers), sacrificed in 2005 along with Sam Cassell to obtain Marko Jaric, the point guard who was going to help Kevin Garnett win in Minnesota.

if NOH wins AD with that pick it'd be almost like the Lakers getting
Magic for a player no one (almost) can remember anymore.

This could get real serious real fast.

http://news.yahoo.com/north-korea-vows- ... ories.html

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea vowed today in an alarming announcement to"soon" reduce parts of South Korea's capital to "ashes" for insulting North Korea's leadership.

Regular programming was interrupted on North Korea's state TV today by a special report declaring that "special actions" will be carried out "soon" and aimed at parts of the South Korean capital Seoul.

It said the military attack will use "unprecedented peculiar means and methods of our own style."

"All will be reduced to ashes in three to four minutes," and will involve "form of fire."

I believe at the very least some sort of action will be taken to neutralize the leadership in North Korea. This is the most reckless statement I've heard. I hope it was some statement made by CIA and equivalent ROK counterparts, just to justify them going in and doing some covert action. Otherwise, the worst fears that never were realized under Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il might happen under the latest dictator, Kim Jong Un.

I give this 30 days before some sort of coup d'etat is reported in the North.

Instead of launching rockets that don't work, they've got millions of people practically starving. The only thing they're being fed is a bunch of lies by their regime. The South Korean President is right. The North is just wasting money and resources, and they are the ones making the world less safe.
Bye bye Beal.

I want to thank everyone for all the cards, letters, gifts, telegrams etc. that have been coming in today. Yes, today marks ten years since I joined RealGM. I know for a great many of you that this has been the best decade of your lives. I'm somewhat humbled to know that I'm largely responsible for that fact. Just remember, I couldn't have done this all by myself. Without you -- the little people -- to read and learn from my wisdom, I would have been but a falling tree in an empty forest. So as much as this day is about me, it's about you too (but only a little bit).

fish, I know your modesty precludes you from the unseemly act of braggadocio, but I don't want this momentous occasion to pass without noting your most significant contribution to RealGM. For it was a mere two weeks after you joined that a young poster from Anne Arundel County followed your lead and provided his own unique blend of wit, insight, and pathos to this fine forum (surely the two events must be related). Just felt it my duty to point out that it ain't been in vain for nothin'. Well done!
