the big no to Danny Ferry as GM Thread
He absolutely destroyed Cleveland with his trades and free agent signings. Please bring someone in from Memphis who was there from the marc gasol trade or even OKC. Stay away from Danny Ferry as a talent evaluator. I would rather keep EG if Ferry is the most likely candidate to get the job.
He did that horrible deal with EG to take Jamison off our hands and he also gave us a first round draft pick. I would hate to be on the other side.

Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Re: the big no to Danny Ferry as GM Thread
From the reports, it sounded like he could have gotten Amare instead of Jamison - if he would have just included JJ Hickson - who has since been found wanting. If he had done that, maybe history would have changed. Bottom line - while his Cleveland teams twice led the NBA in victories - he never surrounded Lebron with a good enough supporting cast.

Let's hope this is just a rumor and not legit.

Ferry is a downgrade for Grunfeld. I don't even know why he's even being considered as a candidate (if the rumor is true).

Just like the wizards to get other team trash. Rather its player or coaches, now Gm? I hope this is not true. It brings a depressing feeling just thinking about it. Beside drafting Lebron James. Does anyone knows the positive move Danny Ferry made?

Yeah we do. Personally, I dont know why it would be a bad thing to have new threads like this as new topics come up. Ultimately the main conversation will pick up in the general GM thread but who wants to wade back through tons of pages to see what people though at the time. Its easy to search for a thread that outline the actually specific event when it happens.
That said, I did search for the GM thread when I saw this news because I know it was with in a few pages and those are the general guidelines for this board. But sometimes it is overdone. I remember thinking that a lot when I first started posting here.

No mention of the source.
Maybe EG is floating the leak just to get fans to realize he doesn't suck as bad as some think.

Re: the big no to Danny Ferry as GM Thread
I thought Danny did a good job in Cleveland. He built a team that could play around Lebron that was a consistent contender in the East. The only mistake he made was not including Hickson in a deal for Amare. He did fine on the Jamison deal. He gave up the 31st pick of the draft.
He's also been in san Antoni the last couple of years and I'm sure he's played a role in rebuilding the roster around their big 3.
The hate doesn't surprise me though. Would any name mentioned here support?

Varajeo is a pretty good player. Mo Williams is also pretty good. Candace Parker's brother isn't terrible. Boobie Gibson is decent. Jamison averaged 32 and 10 against Cleveland when Gil was out. That is why Lebron asked for Jamison to be his teammate. I don't put that move on Ferry. I don't know if Ferry was still GM when they brought in Shaq, but that move was done because Dwight Howard destroyed them.
I don't have any feelings about Ferry one way or another. If he hired Joerger what else would the Wizards need? I can't see Ernie firing Wittman, because Randy has done a heck of a lot better than Flip Saunders. A new GM can bring in his coach, however.
Obviously, someone familiar with Joerger could be the GM and that would make more sense ... OR, just have Grunfeld hire Joerger next season if he would can Randy.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

At least according to Wikipedia, Ferry was hired by Cleveland in 2005, and Sideshow V was picked in 2004, so the best player he got was... um... he got... hmmm... um.... Larry Hughes? O to the M to the G. He was even worse than I remembered.

Re: the big no to Danny Ferry as GM Thread
Cavs fan here...Just want to tell you that Amare rumor is total BS. Kerr already said Sarver axed the trade because he didn't want to face the backlash along with them playing for a 8th spot made him want to keep him. Ferry actually was pretty decent. He did what he could with little to no cap space and late 1st round picks. They only real bad moves he made were in his first year when we panicked and signed Damon Jones and Larry Hughes. He had to do that though cause it was Lebrons rookie contract year and we had to at least make the playoffs so we did what we could.

Re: the big no to Danny Ferry as GM Thread
He got good players cheap. Delonte West, Mo Williams, Antawn Jamison, were all acquired for Joe Smith, Donyell Marshall, Ira Newble and the last pick in the 1st round. Along with a bunch of other slew underrated moves.

If we lose EG for Ferry I will blame those of you who email Ted telling him EG sucks.

Re: the big no to Danny Ferry as GM Thread
If the Antawn Jamison trade is viewed as a reason to approve of Danny Ferry, then Ferry is even worse than I thought. The Jamison trade was horrible. Cleveland gave up a 1st round pick for the privilege of paying an over-the-hill Jamison $28M over two years. He crashed and burned as the "stretch four" who was supposedly going to help Lebron win a title. Since then he's been putting up the same empty stats he's always posted, while killing their cap room in the process.
They're paying $14M a year for a guy who posts a PER of 17 while being perhaps the worst power forward in the game defensively.

I don't care what other good moves Ferry made. I don't want him just because of the Jamison trade. That deal was horrible, and I knew it was going to be bad for Cleveland the day it happened. They thought Jamison was going to be a great 2nd option in the playoffs, but he was never that kind of player.
