So I have heard Niketown is opening in Georgetown in August

Who would you rather make an appearance at their grand opening?
Kevin Durant or Lebron James?
Other than expensive overpriced footwear has Nike really contributed anything worthwhile to professional Basketball?
All of the legendary professional team issued basketball gear from back in the day was made by Spalding, Champion, MacGregor, Rawlings etc...
The Bullets during their existence never wore anything made by Nike.

I heard it's gonna have it's own Starbucks and Apple help desk, too!
Speaking of which, who was expecting that Apple store to open up on Wisconsin Ave? Not me, my money was on an IBM store.

You are probably right. They are going to need to generate all the extra income they can get. I am sure the rent for that place is going to be SKY HIGH.
Back in the day when I saw Ghostbusters in that very same building, I only paid $3 dollars.

Actually when I heard a new store was going to open up in that space I crossed my fingers and prayed that it was Another World coming back and reopening into a much larger space than before but obviously that did not happen.

I have nothing against Nike opening up a retail store in Georgetown I just think Nike is overrated as far as professional basketball is concerned.
They had some good basketball shoes back in the day but that was about it.

Yes, it was a much, much better time back when different corporations manufactured teams' uniforms.
Look, Wes_Tiny_Abe, I think a lot of people are troubled by the chain-storing of America, but you act like this is the only thing that's happened in the last 34 years, and that petty things like a Niketown opening in Georgetown (of all places!) is worse than anything that happened in the '70s. I've never been in a Niketown and have no interest in ever doing so, but it's still better than Three Mile Island or the Atlanta Child Murders. The world changes in good ways and bad all the time. You should try to come to terms with that, I think, since there's nothing getting all mad about it is ever going to accomplish.

This has nothing to do with being troubled by chain stores.
I myself even own some Nike products.
I just think when it comes to professional basketball (aside from basketball shoes) Nike is overrated.
All the great pro stuff was made by Spalding, Champion, MacGregor, Rawlings etc...
Champion > Nike

Yeah they even raise the prices of the retro replica Air Jordans higher than the prices the original Air Jordans sold for back in the day.
Then they have the nerve to release them in limited quantities forcing the kids who want to buy them to camp out the night before in front of the store and riot over them.

True, but my point is Nike is nowhere to be found. They only have shoes and thats it.

Well I just watched the video and I already knew the full code as soon as he said "up up down down" so yeah I guess you pretty much hit the nail right on the head with that one.
My hair was much much longer back then though. Roth was one of my idols.
