team name remains offensive and an embarrassment

would we call a team that we wanted to root for the yellowskins or blackskins?
I don't think so.

A few years ago I - like most Skins fans - thought the name shouldn't be changed. We mean no harm with the name and treat it as a name of endearment. Now, I can't believe how foolish I was. Yes, when fans say it - they mean no harm, and that's good, but... so what? It's still hurtfull to some folks. I know, because I have a relative whose job involves working directly with Indian tribes, and she let me know in no uncertain terms when I made the not so brilliant move of giving my niece a Skins jacket as a birthday present. And doing polls showing the percentages of those offended is stupid. A lot of people are offended, and the reason is as obvious as the nose on your face. That's all you should need to know. It's a name most of us grew up with - but it's just the name of a football team. Call em the Burgundy & Gold. Make up another fight song. If that's too much to ask for, maybe it's time for a self-examination.

I wrote a piece for the blog about how the team needs to change the name. It's time. Snyder's "never"...pardon..."NEVER" stance is stupid. At this point, a name change is inevitable. The smart move would be to jump to the front of the parade, change the name, and make a huge marketing spectacle out of it.

right on Ruz and Nivek

a few years ago I was indifferent about it. Time passes, we reflect more and maybe get wiser.

The regular season needs to hurry up and start.

Preseason is worthless.

I agree.

I just don't want any more injuries. Phillip Thomas was lost a few days back.

Hopefully, there won't be any more bad news before the season gets underway.
Bye bye Beal.

No RGIII or Cousins tomorrow, but still supposed to be a "dress rehearsal". Will it be? Discuss here:

The loss of Crawford probably won't hurt the secondary too much but it will hurt the return game.

Skins down 26-7 at the half. Yikes

Anybody in DC who's mad at RG3 to me is just not a good fan. They also are flat wrong.

I avoided watching this game. That's how bad a feeling I had. I found things to do and once I checked the score the Skins were already down 19-7.

I think the Eagles had a much easier time scouting the Redskins than vice versa. Robert Griffin III was not going to be a major threat with his legs. Philly could key on Alfred Morris early. RG3 hadn't had a preseason snap and he was coming off injury. Mentally and physically, he figured to start slowly. Also, on the other side Chip Kelly and Michael Vick had much to bring to the table. That Philly ran so well is what the Redskins should be concerned about.

It's just one game. Media and fans "BETNOT" be down on RG3.
Bye bye Beal.

RG3 is still hurt, he should be sitting until the Week 5 bye.

The offense doesn't work if RG3 isn't a run threat.
