We're so depressed here over Wall's injury and our continuing mediocrity and suckitude that we forgot its MEDIA DAY

I'm not sure it's a good idea for Nene to use Wall as a crutch.

Anyone watch it? It was streamed live...some good interviews. Everyone kept talking about how professional everyone's been in preparing for the season. And Wall didn't seem too down about his injury.

Wall looks big, and Beal looks taller than I expected, though perspective is off on that pic.

Regardless of what else happens this year, it's going to be nice to root for a team with good guys, who can be trusted to work hard and play smart.*

Beal looks to have a full inch on Wall, and more importantly, his shoulders are a full inch taller, if not a bit more. The measurements say that Wall has an inch on Beal in wingspan, so overall, they are effectively about the same height. Wall is big enough to guard 2's so I'm not worried about Beal. Beal also looks a bit bulkier than Wall, and that's saying something because Wall looks pretty muscular this year.

Ariza doesn't look like he's in that great shape. There isn't much muscle definition in his arms:

Jordan's jumper is ugly as hell. He gets very little elevation and his shot is too flat. Compare it to Cartier's, who, despite the fact he can't do much else, has pretty good shot mechanics.

He is actually shooting with much better form. For one, he is going into his motion with his wrist already back and simply following through. That is what he needed to fix. Someone must have work with him. He used to go up with wrist straight, then bring it back and then release. It was a 3 part motion. Now it is down to two parts like it should be. From here he can get better with more practice.

But I won't be completely convinced until I see him shoot with that form in a game.

I don't know how much we can really tell about his shooting form from the angle of this shot taken behind him. I do see that his right elbow is "in" -- that's good. And that he seems to be shooting on the way up, also good. But I've looked and looked and I can't tell how his wrist is angled.

Haven't read anywhere that he's working on his shooting mechanics. I'd like him to work on shooting less!

At Xavier, as a Hawk, and in his 2 seasons w/ the Wizards, Jordan Crawford has averaged the same number of FGAs per 40 minutes. I don't think this is situational; I think it's how he sees the game, and I think it's a problem.

At Xavier, his TS% was .57 -- that's extremely good for a guard. It wasn't a stretch to draft him #28, as the Hawks did. And it wasn't a stretch to target him in the trade w/ Atlanta. His numbers there weren't good, but he only played 160 minutes, meaning that the sample size was too small for the numbers to mean anything.

Unfortunately, the numbers stayed bad with us. Now, he did improve from year 1 to year 2, and the last 1/3 of year 2, he put up significantly better numbers (not to say "good" or even "average" -- but a lot better all the same).

That trajectory has to continue for him to work out, even as a backup SG. But at least the trajectory is there and real -- that's where hope has to lie.
