Wizards open to trading Trevor Booker for veteran PG???

Post#1 » by AWIZZINGBULLET » Mon Dec 17, 2012 7:55 pm

From NBA.com's David Aldridge:

The Wizards are in desperate need of a point guard until John Wall comes back and are willing to move one of their bigs for a veteran point, league sources say. But will there be much interest in the likes of Trevor Booker (who hasn't played in three weeks since suffering a knee injury)? With the worst record in the league at the quarter pole, Washington is not at all interested in dealing its 2013, first-round and likely top-three pick.

Does this make any sense? The Wizards aren't going places why trade away a potentially valuable piece for A.J. Price II? This is pretty shocking news if it's true.

The Wizards don't really have valuable pieces. With the season already lost, there's no point in making a trade with this season in mind, though. Any trade should be looking toward the future. Unfortunately, any trade will be made by Grunfeld and Leonsis.

I think Booker along with Jordan Crawford and either Okafor or Ariza could get something nice back.

Oh so you knew the Wizards were interested in moving Booker, Vesely, or Seraphin for a veteran point guard though A.J. Price was playing at a decent level and starting before getting injured two Saturdays ago?

If this is true, then it's a very strong indication that the Wizards don't think Wall is coming back at all. It doesn't make sense to trade Booker for A.J. Price II if he is only going to be needed for a few weeks until Wall comes back.

Too bad there isn't a vet PG roughly equivalent (in contract and ability) to Trevor Ariza. That would be a trade that makes sense.

There is so little point in trading for a PG. Just sign Mack or someone else off the street.

Jose Calderon?
Beno Udrih?
Mo Williams?
Earl Watson?

All of them have expiring contracts that are somewhat in range of Ariza's salary (maybe another player would have to be added from one side or the other).

Wall should get Microfracture surgery now. Have him sit out 2013-2014 and we tank for Wiggens/Parker after drafting Noel or Zeller with our top pick.

2014 Fall opening lineup

G-Wall with a reasonable contract since he wont be same player
G-Beal
F-Wiggins
F-Zeller
C-Serphain

Aldridge has gone completely off his rocker as of late. Not Jay Marrioti crazy or even Rob Parker crazy but something ain't right.

Trading young for old, sounds like a Wizards trade to me!

I'm definitely on the Wizards board--already given up on 2012 and 2013 and looking forward to 2014.

I mean how many top three picks does a team really need before they turn things around? This year's top pick, a healthy Wall, Beal and no significant injuries should do the trick going into the 2013-2014 season.

There's no need to be in a perpetual tank. Don't even need top 3 picks to get good players. In nearly every draft, good players go later. Odds are better at the top, but the draft is inefficient. A smart team could exploit that to its benefit.

+1 (+1million actually!)

We watch it happen virtually every year. It's just not Ernie making it happen, alas.

would be very not smart to trade for a PG this season because Wall is out. its a tanking season already. Why risk making the team worst by throwing away youthful rebuilding blocks for old vet that likely wont do much ether?
Especially when it means giving up a lotto pick to do so.
