OT: Adrian Dantley

I used to absolutely love him and his facial expressions on the Wiz post game show. I'm still trying to figure out his game which always intrigued me (much in the same way that I'm perplexed on how to shoot the Antawn Jamison under the defender's arm shot--I swear that shot only works for him). Anyway, I first thought this was a "look how the might have fallen" story but it seems A.D. is totally cool with it:

Dantley sometimes works out at the LA Fitness in Silver Spring. I went up to him one time and said: "How the hell did you score all those points in the paint when you're barely 6-5?" He laughed and said it was because he started lifting weights before it was the thing to do and, as a result, he was stronger than most other players.
Dantley also, btw, had some slick moves in the paint, good footwork and a nice fadeaway jumper that also helped.

Great story!
W. Unseld, I know a former NFL player who is doing something similar. He's a tremendously inspirational person to me and to my son who aspires to be in the league one day. (My son looks taller every time I see him and he is a strong, but not that athletic, 180 pounder at 12 years old). Also, I know of a family with former MLB and NFL players who are doing some relatively low wage jobs.
Some people figure out service is rewarding and how much fun it is to live a simple life. They already made plenty money.

How much money did AD make over his career?
From the story it sounds like he looked for the fewest hours and least amount of hassle for health insurance.

Sucks that the players' union hasn't fought harder to get the league to provide health coverage to retired players who played in the league as long as AD did.

Article out there states Dantley won a $15 million lawsuit against David Falk. I'm sure he's doing fine and is only doing it for the health insurance.
