In addition to congratulating Collins, I'd like to congratulate this board. When I first started coming to this board (as the token openly gay occasional poster), nothing regarding sexuality in sports/society could be discussed here without rampant homophobic comments, and I don't see that anymore. It is heartening to see that Collins's coming out can be discussed rationally and seriously, too, as it has been on the first couple of pages of this thread.

God is love. Who am I to judge?

I say a lot of stuff and think a lot of stuff but at the end of the day I have to walk in love and make the most of my days. I wish peace for everyone.

I think if anything this gives Collins a better chance of making the roster.

It is amazing he is the first to come out. There is probably one gay player on average for every team. Rosters have 13-15 players. My guess is there are anywhere from 25 to 40 gay NBA players.

I'm proud to be a poster on this board. I logged on expecting to find a mixture of support and homophobia... but have seen nothing but classy (and hilarious) posts.

I'm sure it took a lot of courage for him to decide this and props to him for being the first to do it. Regardless of him doing it at the end of his career. Someone had to be the first.

But as I said, things have changed so quickly I am honestly not phased. I was like. Ok. Jason is gay. That's interesting.

So who do you'll think will be next to come out. Nash ? You know what's where the conversation is headed next. Speculation on who is next to come out. The stage is set for a bigger name now.

The real gays in DC were over at 12" Dance Records on P Street back in the day.
99% of the employees who worked there and customers who shopped there were all openly gay.
From men dressed as women all the way to shirtless muscular incredible hulk body type dudes on rollerblades that place was just as gay if not gayer than any gay nightclub in DC or Baltimore.

I remember walking up to the register one time with a stack of albums I wanted to purchase and the cashier behind the register ignored me, pulled out a mirror and started applying lipstick and other makeup products to his face. "I'm busy right now" "Just leave the albums on the counter and come back and pay for them in 10 minutes" he said.

Sometimes the store phone would ring and nobody would answer it because they did not want to lower the music and disrupt the live in store DJ who was mixing house records in the back of store.

I still have one of their shopping bags.

One of these days I might frame it along with many of my other shopping bags from local businesses which have long since closed just to remind myself how interesting this city was before the CVS, Starbucks and Whole Foods invasion.

Speaking of no pants being worn, you do know there was a Tracks reunion this past weekend right?
I did not go because I never really was a part of that scene. But I knew people who always went there.
