Robinson helped the injury plagued Chicago Bulls stay afloat this past season after Derrick Rose opted to sit out the entire season. At times, Robinson became a primary scoring option in Chicago with virtually no one on the roster who could consistently create for themselves.
Washington struggled mightily while John Wall recovered from a stress injury and A.J. Price was inserted into the starting lineup. The Wizards plummeted in offensive ratings and finished the season as the worst offensive team in the league, largely due to Wall’s absence at the beginning of the season.
Acquiring a guard who adds a scoring punch off the bench will certainly be a goal for the Wizards this off-season. Robinson averaged 13.1 points and 4.4 assists per game this past season. He also averaged over 16 points in the post-season, which certainly helped the Bulls advance past the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs.
The Wizards were one of the best defensive teams in the league this past season, but they won’t get much help on that side of the floor from Nate Robinson.
All in all, I’m glad the Wizards are trying to fill their needs at the beginning of the free-agency period, instead of waiting to sign unheralded players like they did this past season.
Getting deeper from a roster standpoint will become a huge factor if the Wizards want to achieve their playoff goals. Robinson would certainly help them in aspects of the game which they were missing last season.
